Questions on the Last Lecture

Lecture Ten
4
NOTE the following as we progress in our study
  • In the beginning (Eden) was the WORD of God, the
    key to eternal life.
  • Forsake the WORD of God and death is the result.
  • Thus the eternal principle Heb. 108. Now the
just shall live by faith but if any man draw
back, my soul shall have no pleasure in him.
  • CAIN AND ABLE ARE OFFERED AS EXAMPLES OF THIS
    FIRST OUTSIDE OF EDEN.

5
Cains transgression
  • 41. And Adam knew Eve his wife and she
conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten
    a man from the Lord.
  • 2. And she again bare his brother Abel. And
Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller
    of the ground.
  • 3. And in process of time it came to pass, that
Cain brought of the fruit of the ground an
    offering unto the Lord.
  • 4. And Abel, he also brought of the firstlings
of his flock and of the fat thereof. And the Lord
had respect unto Abel and to his offering
  • 5. But unto Cain and to his offering he had not
respect. And Cain was very wroth, and his
    countenance fell.

6
Cains Attitude toward His brother is really
toward God
  • 46. And the Lord said unto Cain, Why art thou
wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen?
  • 7. If thou doest well, shalt thou not be
accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth
at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire,
and thou shalt rule over him.
  • 8. And Cain talked with Abel his brother and
it came to pass, when they were in the field,
that Cain rose up against Abel his brother, and
    slew him.
  • 9. And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel
thy brother? And he said, I know not am I my
    brother's keeper?
  • 10. And he said, What hast thou done? the voice
of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the
    ground.

7
Cains Sin Spoken of in Hebrews
  • Heb. 114. By faith Abel offered unto God a
more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he
obtained witness that he was righteous, God
testifying of his gifts and by it he being dead
    yet speaketh.
  • Rom. 1017. So then faith cometh by hearing,
and hearing by the word of God.

8
Cains Sin Includes All Sin
  • CAIN VIOLATED TWO BASIC PRINCIPLES OF DIVINITY
    AND BROTHERHOOD
  • Dt. 6 5. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God
with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and
    with all thy might.
  • He worshipped as he pleased, and not as it
    pleased God.
  • Lev. 1918 Thou shalt love thy neighbour as
    thyself
  • He killed his brother because his worship was
    acceptable and his were not.

9
THE ATTITUDE OF CAIN IS THE MENTALITY OF THE
SERPENTS SEED
  • 49. And the Lord said unto Cain, Where is Abel
    thy brother?
  • And he said, I know not am I my brother's
    keeper?
  • Notice to Adam 39 Where art thou?
  • Cain, Where is Abel thy brother?
  • Look at world brotherhood today?
  • I JNO. 2 10. He that loveth his brother abideth
in the light, and there is none occasion of
stumbling in him. 11. But he that hateth his
brother is in darkness, and walketh in darkness,
and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that
    darkness hath blinded his eyes.

10
JUDE SPEAKS OF THE WAY OF CAIN
JUDE 6. And the angels which kept not their
first estate, but left their own habitation, he
hath reserved in everlasting chains under
darkness unto the judgment of the great day. 7.
Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about
them in like manner, giving themselves over to
fornication, and going after strange flesh, are
set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance
of eternal fire. 8. Likewise also these filthy
dreamers defile the flesh, despise dominion, and
speak evil of dignities. 9. Yet Michael the
archangel, when contending with the devil he
disputed about the body of Moses, durst not bring
against him a railing accusation, but said, The
Lord rebuke thee. 10. But these speak evil of
those things which they know not but what they
know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things
they corrupt themselves.11. Woe unto them! for
they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran
greedily after the error of Balaam for reward,
and perished in the gainsaying of Core.
11
LEAVING EDEN, THE ENMITY (WAR) BETWEEN THE TWO
SEEDS BEGINS
  • Now As we leave Eden it will be

Shown in Cains History (the unbelieving seed
of enemity) that Sin is separation from God and
    Death.
  • The abiding blessing and Curse
  • The wages of sins is death
  • The just are those living by faith in the word of
    God

12
HOW THE PENTATEUCH ILLUSTRATES THAT THE WAGES OF
SIN IS DEATH
Gen. 4 16. And Cain went out from the presence
of the Lord, and dwelt in the land of Nod, on the
east of Eden. Note In 7 generations from Adam
are found living by the law of the
jungle. Adam-Cain-Enoch-Irad-Mehujael-Methusael-La
mech. Polygamy begins 423-24 And Lamech took
unto him two wives I have slain a man to my
wounding, and a young man to my hurt. If Cain
shall be avenged sevenfold, truly Lamech seventy
and sevenfold. SEVEN GENERATION ENDS THE TOLEDOTH
OF CAIN IN EXTINCTION AS FAR AS THE RECORD
GOES.
13
NOW THE RECORD SHOWS WHAT HAPPENS TO THE FAITH
SEED IN 7 GENERATIONS IN THE TOLEDOTH OF ADAM VIA
SETH
  • And Adam - Seth- Enos - Cainan Mahalaleel-
    Cainan - Jared --- Enoch
  • In seven generations union/harmony with God.
Gen. 522 And Enoch walked with God and he was
not for God took him. The lesson Walking in
the light reaps eternal life with God.
  • Heb. 115. By faith Enoch was translated that
he should not see death and was not found,
because God had translated him for before his
translation he had this testimony, that he
    pleased God.

14
Seth the New Faith Seed Replaces Abel
  • The promise of God is not thwarted by Cains
murder of the faith man Abel. God will simply
use the next faith man Seth to fulfill His
promise to mankind to send a Savior into the
    world.
  • THERE WILL ALWAYS BE A REMNANT OF THE FAITH SEED.

15
THE EVIDENCE OF HISTORY
  • FOR THE SEED THAT CHOOSES TO WALK LIKE CAINS
TOLEDOTH (AFTER THE FLESH NOT AFTER THE
PROMISE) THE WAGES OF SIN IS DEATH--- Rom 623
  • Gal. 67. Be not deceived God is not mocked
for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also
reap. 8. For he that soweth to his flesh shall
of the flesh reap corruption but he that soweth
to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life
    everlasting.
  • FOR THE SEED THAT CHOOSES TO WALK LIKE SETHS
TOLDOT (TO WALK BY FAITH IN GODS PROMISE) IS TO
OVERCOME BY GRACE THE CURSE OF DEATH BY WALKING
    WITH (HAVING FELLOWSHIP) GOD
  • Death is overcome in 7 generations

16
THUS WE HAVE THE RECORD STATING
  • HABAKKUK 24. Behold, his soul which is lifted
up is not upright in him but the just shall live
    by his faith.
  • Eph. 2 8. For by grace are ye saved through
faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift
    of God

17
NOW A HAZARD COMES UPON THE SCENEINTERMARRIAGE
WITH THE BAD SEED WILL RESULT IN ALMOST UNIVERSAL
SIN
IT HAS BEEN DEMONSTRATED THAT GOD CAN KEEP HIS
PROMISE IF THE BAD SEED MURDERS THE GOOD. NOW
THE QUESTION IS, CAN GOD KEEP HIS PROMISE IF THE
GOOD SEED CONTAMINATES ITSELF BY MIXING WITH THE
BAD AND RESULTING IN UNIVERAL SIN AND DEATH!
18
In three Generations Methuselah, Lamech
NoahUniversal Sin (7310)
  • The record will now demonstrate that God, by
grace, is able to perpetuate the seed of promise
regardless of universal sin that demands
    universal destruction.
  • Problem If the divine curse against sin is
death, how can God save the seed of promise if
    there is universal sin?
  • Solution Grace and faith are superior to sin and
death. Although a small remnant, God is able to
know who they are and save them as righteous by
His grace and their faith. Mt. 713-14, Eph. 28-9

19
Faith Seed Is Corrupted by Intermarriage with the
Serpents Seed1 Cor. 1533 Bad company ruins
good morals. RSV)
  • 1. And it came to pass, when men began to
multiply on the face of the earth, and daughters
were born unto them, 2. That the sons of God
saw the daughters of men that they were fair and
they took them wives of all which they chose.
  • 3. And the Lord said, My spirit shall not
always strive with man, for that he also is
flesh yet his days shall be an hundred and
    twenty years.
  • 120 yearsGod has patience to extend grace to
sinners for awhile but it is only for a
    space.judgment will come.
  • 21. And I gave her space to repent of her
    fornication and she repented not.

20
The Result of fleshly Distraction
  • 6 4. There were giants in the earth in those
days and also after that, when the sons of God
came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare
children to them, the same became mighty men
which were of old, men of renown.
  • 5. And God saw that the wickedness of man was
great in the earth, and that every imagination of
the thoughts of his heart was only evil
    continually.

21
Gods Patience Ends in Judgment
  • Only 8 righteous faithful souls found on the
    earth.
  • 2 TIM 219 Nevertheless the foundation of God
standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord knoweth
    them that are his
  • Satan again loses his bid to destroy the seed of
the woman and prevent the coming of the promised
    seedthe Messiah, Jesus Christ

22
WHO RECEIVES GRACE FROM GOD?
  • NOAH IS AN EXAMPLE FOR ALL
  • 67. And the Lord said, I will destroy man whom
I have created from the face of the earth both
man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the
fowls of the air for it repenteth me that I have
    made them.
  • 8. But Noah found grace in the eyes of the
    Lord.
  • KEY TO THE GRACE OF GOD. 622. Thus did Noah
according to all that God commanded him, so did
    he.
  • No other boats built by mans design would have
    saved anyone

23
The Ark is a type of a sinners Salvation
20. Which sometime were disobedient, when once
the longsuffering of God waited in the days of
Noah, while the ark was a preparing, wherein few,
that is, eight souls were saved by water. 21.
The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also
now save us (not the putting away of the filth of
the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience
toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ
24
The Figure of Noahs Salvation and Ours
  • Had to board the ship
  • All the saved were in the ark.
  • All outside perished
  • One family of Noahs
  • All had to stay on ship til the flood
    passed
  • All are added to the church.. Acts 247
  • All the saved are in Christs church
  • All outside lost
  • One family of Christians
  • All must remain faithful in the church till flood
    passes

25
GEN 11, POST FLOOD WORLD
26
THE ORIGIN OF LANGUAGES AND NATIONS
  • 4. And they said, Go to, let us build us a city
and a tower, whose top may reach unto heaven and
let us make us a name, lest we be scattered
abroad upon the face of the whole earth.
  • 5. And the Lord came down to see the city and
the tower, which the children of men builded.
  • 6. And the Lord said, Behold, the people is
one, and they have all one language and this
they begin to do and now nothing will be
restrained from them, which they have imagined to
    do.
  • 7. Go to, let us go down, and there confound
their language, that they may not understand one
    another's speech.
  • 8. So the Lord scattered them abroad from
thence upon the face of all the earth and they
left off to build the city.
  • 9. Therefore is the name of it called Babel
  • EPH 28. For by grace are ye saved through
faith and that not of yourselves it is the gift
of God 9. Not of works, lest any man should
    boast.

27
THE SEED PROMISE IS NARROWED BY DIVINE
SELECTIVITY- A NATION IS TO BE BORN
  • 121. Now the Lord had said unto Abram, Get thee
out of thy country, and from thy kindred, and
from thy father's house, unto a land that I will
    shew thee
  • 2. And I will make of thee a great nation, and
I will bless thee, and make thy name great and
    thou shalt be a blessing
  • ABE IS 75

28
WHY ABRAM?
  • THE SAME REASON AS WHY NOAH
  • 2218. And in thy seed shall all the nations of
the earth be blessed because thou hast obeyed my
    voice.
  • Heb. 11 8. By faith Abraham, when he was called
to go out into a place which he should after
receive for an inheritance, obeyed and he went
out, not knowing whither he went.
  • . 622. Thus did Noah according to all that God
    commanded him, so did he.

29
The Principle of Grace and Faith
  • Noah obtained grace through his faith
  • Abraham obtained grace through his faith
  • Paul says Eph, 28. For by grace are ye saved
through faith and that not of yourselves it is
    the gift of God
  • 9. Not of works, lest any man should boast.
  • No faith, good works are useless.

30
To Perfect His Faith, Abram is Subjected To
Several Tests in Life
  • ALTHOUGH HE FAILS ONCE, IN ALL OTHERS HE PASSES.
  • EACH TIME HE PROVES FAITHFUL IN THE TEST, GOD
    GIVES HIM ADDITIONAL REVELATION
  • WE WILL NOW STUDY THE DEVELOPMENT OF ABRAMS
    CHARACTER

31
ABE PASSES THE INITIAL CALL TEST
  • TEST 1. THE LOVE OF GOD
  • 121 Get thee out of thy country, and from thy
kindred, and from thy father's house, unto a land
    that I will shew thee
  • 124. So Abram departed, as the Lord had spoken
unto him and Lot went with him and Abram was
seventy and five years old when he departed out
    of Haran.

32
THE ADDITIONAL REVELATION AFTER PASSING TEST 1
  • 6. And Abram passed through the land unto the
place of Sichem, unto the plain of Moreh. And the
Canaanite was then in the land.
  • 7. And the Lord appeared unto Abram, and said,
Unto thy seed will I give this land and there
builded he an altar unto the Lord, who appeared
    unto him.

33
RECEIVING FURTHER REVELATION ABRAM GROWS IN FAITH
  • 127 and there builded he an altar unto the Lord,
    who appeared unto him.
  • 8. And he removed from thence unto a mountain
on the east of Bethel, and pitched his tent,
having Bethel on the west, and Hai on the east
and there he builded an altar unto the Lord, and
called upon the name of the Lord.
  • 9. And Abram journeyed, going on still toward
    the south.

34
ABRAM FAILS 2ND TEST 1210-20GOD HAS PROMISED,
YET HE FEARS FOR HIS LIFE
  • Caused by a famine driving him into Egypt.
  • Since God had promised..why didnt Abram seek
Gods counsel before going into a foreign
    country.
  • Regardless of Gods promise , Abram fears that he
will be killed by those who desire his wife.
  • He fails the test and through fear lies and tells
his wife to lie.a half lie

35
ABRAM LIES
  • 11. And it came to pass, when he was come near
to enter into Egypt, that he said unto Sarai his
wife, Behold now, I know that thou art a fair
    woman to look upon
  • 12. Therefore it shall come to pass, when the
Egyptians shall see thee, that they shall say,
This is his wife and they will kill me, but they
    will save thee alive.
  • 13. Say, I pray thee, thou art my sister that
it may be well with me for thy sake and my soul
    shall live because of thee.

36
Where Is Satan in all this?
  • Remember, he wants to prevent the promise to
Abram being fulfilled through Sarai. His worst
fear is the saving SEED coming into the world.
Thorough 2,000 more years he will use many sinful
circumstances to prevent this from happening.
Here he exploits Abrams weakness. But Abe will
    learn and grow stronger
  • If the marriage takes place to Pharaoh the
promise to send a seed via Sarai will be broken.

37
GOD PROTECTS HIS PROMISED SEED. HE PREVENTS
SARAI FROM CONTAMINATION
  • 17. And the Lord plagued Pharaoh and his house
with great plagues because of Sarai Abram's wife.
  • 18. And Pharaoh called Abram and said, What is
this that thou hast done unto me? why didst thou
not tell me that she was thy wife?
  • 19. Why saidst thou, She is my sister? so I
might have taken her to me to wife now therefore
behold thy wife, take her, and go thy way.
  • 20. And Pharaoh commanded his men concerning
him and they sent him away, and his wife, and
    all that he had.

38
IN PENITENT DEEPER FAITH ABRAM RETURNS TO HIS
ORIGINAL ALTAR
  • 133 And he went on his journeys from the south
even to Bethel, unto the place where his tent had
been at the beginning, between Bethel and Hai
  • 4. Unto the place of the altar, which he had
made there at the first and there Abram called
on the name of the Lord.
  • One might guess what Abram said to God.
