2SUPPREM a Virtual Campus about Sustainable
Development and Environmental Management
- At the Interfaculty Centre CUEH of the
University of Geneva, SUPPREM
- Proposes online interdisciplinary modules
(bricks) - Provides a set of e-learning modules which can be
integrated in existing courses, new courses or
programs in continuing education
3Innovative Contributions Interdisciplinarity
and Cooperation
Interdisciplinarity and Cooperation are well
adapted to e-learning
- A apprenticeship based on the resolution of
problems (learning by doing) - Teaching Teams (a training community)
- Creation of a common ground between the partners
4SUPPREM in 2005
- 6 Partners (University of Geneva (Leading House),
University of Bern, University of Basle, Swiss
Italian University, University of Lausanne,
UNCTAD) - About 20 Institutions (Departments, Centres,
Institutes) - About 30 Professors and Assistants
- About 500 students during the academic year
2004-2005 - About 30 modules (bricks) representing 40 ECTS
(European Credit Transfer System)
5SUPPREM a Modular System
Modularity and flexibility are provided by
- The organisation of contents (RCO) structured by
a data base managed outside the platforms - The SUPPREM course portal (especially developed
in the framework of the project) allows one to
join one or several modules in order to create a
course - The use of the SCORM standard permits a larger
choice of platforms
6SUPPREM a Blended-Learning Approach
- In some cases, the modules are offered 100
online, but in most cases, the percentage is
variable (between 30 and 70). The actual trend
is to favour blended learning for pedagogical
and social acceptance reasons - On the whole, we estimate the reduction up to 50
in some sectors - The SUPPREM system permits a variety of distance
training modes e-Sessions, e-Courses
(synchronous or asynchronous), Webcasting, etc.
7SUPPREM e-learning Training Modes
- E-Support on the Web
- E-Sessions in addition to traditional courses or
seminars in class and scheduled - Synchronous e-Courses or e-Seminars (at home or
in PC room) scheduled - Asynchronous e-Courses or e-Seminars (at home or
in PC room) - Webcasting (at home or in PC room)
- scheduled or self-paced
