Used Tire Recovery Program

  • Diverts millions of used tires from landfills
  • Supports the use of crumb rubber for athletic
    fields running tracks at high schools and
    colleges
  • Supports manufacturing of recycled-content
    products
  • Grants awarded in FY 02 totaled 2.2 million
  • More than 18 million has been returned to
    Illinois schools, businesses, park districts and
    municipalities to manufacture and support the use
    of products made from waste and used tires since
    the programs inception.
