  shipping.       The following tour is designed
  to help you better understand the process in
  which materials from your home or business become
  valuable recyclable commodities.

•   Best Way Disposal does not set a limit on the
  amount of recycle that a homeowner may put out at
  one time however, we ask that the recycle be kept
  separate from the household trash.    
• The photo at the top right is an example
  of improper placement.  The excess trash bag with
  recyclable contents would not be collected in
  this example.
• The photo at the bottom right shows proper
  placement. With this placement, it is clear to
  the driver what is to be collected as recycle.

• Co-mingled materials are collected
  curbside transported to the Madison Avenue
  Transfer Station where they are then compacted
  into a semi trailer in preparation for shipment
  to East Central Recycling in Muncie, IN.

•   Materials are shipped in and unloaded
  on the tipping floor at East Central Recycling.

• Once unloaded, the recyclable
  materials are stockpiled in a temporary storage
  area near the feed conveyor to the MRF,
  (Materials Recycling Facility).
•  Production begins as material is
  loaded onto the first of many conveyors
  throughout the recycling process.

• At the first sorting station large
  pieces of cardboard are removed.  Plastic bags
  filled with recyclable material are also opened
  here.

•    The paper screen is one of ECR's
  most productive pieces of equipment. 
  Approximately 70 of recyclable material
  processed at East Central's MRF is paper.  The
  paper screen removes this volume efficiently from
  the remaining flow.
•  After paper has cleared the screen
  it is checked once more for any non-paper
  material that has slipped thru the cracks.  The
  unwanted material is removed the paper is ready
  to be baled.

•    Material rejected by the paper screen
  is then sent to the final manual sort station. 
  At this station plastic glass containers are
  removed.
• Plastic containers are conveyed to a
  holding bunker prior to being baled shipped.

•    Now that cardboard, paper, plastic glass
  containers have been removed the flow has
  diminished greatly.
•   Glass containers are sorted by color
  then shipped to a local glass factory.

• The final stages of the sorting process
  is to remove steel aluminum containers.  These
  stages are completely automated.  A cross magnet
  conveyor is mounted above the material line.  The
  magnet lifts steel containers from the material
  line deposits them into a holding bunker.

•   Steel containers are stored in the
  holding bunkers until baled shipped.
• Once the steel containers have been
  reclaimed the remaining material continues across
  the "Eddy Current" where aluminum containers are
  discharged from the conveyor via reverse
  magnetically applied force, baled shipped.

• After completing this phase all remaining
  material is conveyed to ECR's refuse transfer
  station where it is then loaded transported to
  Randolph Farms Landfill.
