  Virginia Association of Professional Soil
  Scientists (WVAPSS)

• Program Description
• July 18 7 p.m. Introduction to West Virginia
  soils, forests and issues
• July 19 Visit reclaimed mines to evaluate soil
  development, restoration success, and learn about
  research on soil biology.
• WVAPSS Business meeting 7 p.m.
• July 20 View forests experiencing repeated fire
  and evaluate effects on soil development. Also,
  an afternoon workshop on collecting soil
  monoliths
• Evening conversation with Devil Anse Hatfield.
• July 21 visit to an active mine and discuss soil
  development, reforestation and other research.
  Workshop ends at noon.

• Registration
• We are still negotiating registration costs, but
  they will run approximately 150-175 per person,
  or 60 for a single day. Registration fees
  include meals (Monday evening through Thursday
  breakfast) breaks, evening programs, and field
  tour costs.
