• Krypton is not the same as kryptonite from
  Superman
• Krypton was discovered in 1898 by Sir William
  Ramsay and Morris W. Travers by accident after it
  remained after they boiled air away
• Krypton is one of the noble gases

We Care Why?

• Krypton is used with argon in some fluorescent
  lights
• Krypton is used in flash bulbs for some high
  speed photography
• The wavelength of krypton was how the meter is
  defined between 1960 and 1983 (1 meter
  1,650,763.73 wavelengths of the orange-red line
  that appears in a krypton isotope)
• Krypton has a really cool sounding name!
