Classroom Rules
  • Be a diligent learner.
  • Begin the Start-Up Activity before the
    classroom door is shut without being asked to do
    so.
  • Use your class time wisely. Off task behavior
    (sleeping in class, daydreaming, stalling,
    playing, etc.) wastes important learning
    opportunities and can result in consequences.
  • Complete and turn in all of your assignments on
    time.

  • Be respectful.
  • Remain in your seat unless you have permission to
    get up.
  • Raise your hand and wait until you are called to
    speak.
  • Remain quiet unless you have permission to talk.
  • Follow the teachers directions immediately and
    completely.
  • Respect other people and their property.
  • You are not allowed to touch other people or
    their property (even if you think you are just
    playing)
  • Use positive verbal and body language in school.
  • Name calling, verbal, written, or physical
    bullying will not be tolerated.

  • Use it only when you have permission.
  • Do not use any other marker, pen, etc. on it
    besides the one that comes with the board.
  • Please do not touch the pen or the board without
    permission. Both are very expensive.
  • You will get a chance to learn how to use it.
  • We will use it in class as much as possible.

What do I do if I have a question?
  • Be sure that your question is appropriate for the
    time and place.
  • Wait until we are at a breaking point in the
    lesson or conversation.
  • Raise your hand and wait for me to call on you.
  • Think clearly about your question, ask it clearly
    and loudly, and pay attention to the response.

Classroom
  • All book bags/gym bags must remain in your locker
    until after fourth period.
  • Each desk has a dictionary and thesaurus.
  • Put your books in the basket or under the basket.
    Keep the aisles clear.
  • Use only the materials on the front table.
  • Do not touch the materials on my desk or other
    tables without permission.
  • Only put papers into the baskets. Do not take
    them out.

Computers
  • You may use the student computers only with
    permission.
  • You are not allowed to use the internet without
    permission.
  • To take an AR test, ask prior to the beginning of
    class.

Paperwork
  • Each class has a basket.
  • Turn your work into your periods basket.
  • Only use whole sheets of paper.
  • Be sure that that the heading is on every piece
    of paper you use.
  • Papers without names will be placed in the wall
    tray.
  • Find your paper, add your name, and return it to
    your periods black basket.

What do I do if I am absent?
  • Check the homework calendar on my website.
  • Call your homework buddy.
  • Do the assigned work.
  • Review your notes.
  • Do your reading for your logs.

What do I do when I return from an absence?
  • Give your homeroom teacher a note within two days
    of your absence.
  • Give me your excuse sheet.
  • Check the Absence Tray for handouts.
  • Ask your homework buddy what we did.
  • Check with me regarding any other missed
    assignments, quizzes, or tests.
  • You have three days for every day out to make up
    your work.
  • Turn in your make-up work to the tray within the
    three days WITHOUT BEING ASKED.

What do I do if Im sick?
  • Emergency Run to the restroom.
  • Fill out a pass in your agenda to go to Mrs.
    Newman.
  • Bring medicine from home to school with a medical
    form and a note.
  • If you have a fever, stay home and get well.

What do I do if I forgot my homework?
  • You will get ONE late homework pass from Mrs.
    Morris each quarter.
  • You may bring your homework the following day,
    staple the pass to your homework, and turn it
    into your periods basket without being
    penalized.
  • Without the pass, late homework will not be
    accepted.
  • The pass cannot be used on writing assignments,
    reading logs, book reports, or projects.

May I call home?
  • For an EMERGENCY
  • No ride, key, etc.
  • If you are SICK
  • You need medication or need to go home.
  • Write a pass in your agenda to Mrs. Newman. You
    will call home from her office.
  • You may not call if you left something at home.

Lunch Account
  • Lunch Number Student ID Number
  • Take lunch money to the cafeteria before
    homeroom.
  • Keep your money safe in your pocket or purse.
  • Dont show your money to other people.

Lockers
  • Are a privilege You can lose them.
  • Keep them clean and organized.
  • Use them only during locker breaks
  • Beginning of the day
  • After 4th Period
  • Keep your combination a secret
  • No rigging your locker Youll lose it.

Restroom Breaks
  • Only six people at a time in the restroom
  • No hanging out or playing
  • Do your business and get out
  • Go at the appropriate times

  • Report any problems/fights/messes IMMEDIATELY.

Passes Out of the Room
  • You get FOUR passes a quarter.
  • If you use your passes, you cannot leave the
    room.
  • If there is an emergency, let your teacher know.
  • You must have your agenda to leave the room.

  • Do not leave class without permission.
  • Do not leave class by yourself or with a small
    group without a pass.
  • At the end of class, I will dismiss the rows that

Lost Found
  • Anything left in my room will be put in the lost
    and found box under the front table.
  • After two weeks, it will go into the schools
    lost and found.
  • At the end of the quarter, the lost and found
    items are donated to Goodwill.

CMS Media Center
  • About a month after taking pictures, you will
    receive an ID card. You must have this card to
    check out a book.
  • It costs 5.00 to replace a lost ID.
  • You may go to the library before school, during
    class (if we have time), during lunch (with
    permission), and on our checkout day (every three
    weeks).

  • You may renew a book twice.
  • Late book charge - .05/day/book
  • You must have a pass to go.
  • In the media center is the school store. You may
    go before school.

Mrs. Morriss Library
  • If you take a book from the shelf, you must check
    it out by filling out your library sheet that
    will be in the binder on the bookshelf.
  • Please return books to the book return box.
  • After you put the book in the return, find your
    sheet and put the date your returned the book.
  • For AR books, look for an A or a little red
    sticker.

What do I do at the beginning of class?
  • Make sure you have all of your materials before
    you enter my room.
  • Read the instructions on the board as soon as you
    enter class.
  • Put your HOMEWORK on your desk.
  • Sharpen your pencil.
  • Copy your homework into your agenda.
  • Begin the Start Up activity IMMMEDIATELY. It will
    be on the board.
  • This is not a time to socialize. Please get to
    work without talking.

What do I do if I have finished my assignment
before everyone else?
  • Review your work. Check for errors and correct
    them.
  • Review your notes, vocabulary, or handouts from
    this unit.
  • Read a library book that you should have at your
    desk.
  • You are NOT allowed to sit and do nothing.

What happens if there is a fire drill?
  • We will exit the classroom door and exit the
    building through the side door.
  • We will line up in the grass.
  • You are not allowed to talk at all.
  • You must raise your hand and yell Here when I
    am doing roll call.
  • You must return to class quietly.

What if I want to tell you something?
  • Please begin your Start Up activity. Raise your
    hand, and I will come to you.
  • If you would prefer to tell me something without
    everyone else seeing, drop a note on my desk or
    see me before homeroom or after class.
  • If you have an emergency (you are sick or someone
    else is hurt), please see me immediately.

What if I forgot something in my locker?
  • If it is a pencil or pen, please ask for one.
  • PLEASE return it.
  • If you left your homework or a book, you may get
    your agenda pass signed before the start up
    activity is over. After that has passed, you may
    not leave the room.
