  • UW System 4-year colleges (05/06)
  • 105,512 UW System students received 828.8
    million in financial aid, averaging 7,854.
  • Weighted average student costs for
    undergraduate, resident, living on campus was
    13,642 total, with 5,508 occurring in tuition
    fees and 3,442 occurring in Personal/Other
    expenses.
  • Wisconsin Private Colleges and Universities
    (05/06)
  • Average tuition fees 19,794, Average
    freshman financial aid package 14,269, Average
    net tuition 5,525 (students would incur
    additional expenses for room and board and
    books).
  • Of the 325 million in grant aid, 15 was
    federal, 9 was state, 76 was
    institutional/private.
  • 94 of full-time firstyear students
    received financial aid, the majority provided by
    the institutions themselves.

  • At least 20 of high school graduates in
    Wisconsin attend WI Technical colleges
    immediately after high school. Within 5 years of
    graduation, 40 of high school graduates enroll
    in the WI Technical College system.
  • WTCS colleges serve 1 in 9 Wisconsin adults or
    roughly 460,000 each year in a variety of
    educational options primarily degree, technical
    diploma, certificates and customized training.
  • 92 of WTCS students get jobs within 6 months of
    graduation.
  • 86 of WTCS graduates live and work in
    Wisconsin.
  • 97 of WTCS graduates are satisfied or very
    satisfied with their training.

  • On average, full-time students receive about
    9,000 of aid per year in the form of grants and
    tax benefits in private four-year institutions,
    3,100 in public four-year institutions, and
    2,200 in public two-year colleges.
  • A quarter of all college students are enrolled
    part-time in two-year public colleges.
  • Over one-third of first- and second-year college
    students have taken remedial courses. Math (77)
    was over twice as popular as Writing (35), with
    English (30) and Reading (28) close behind.
  • Students take an average of 6.2 years to earn
    bachelors degrees in public colleges and 5.3
    years to earn bachelors degrees in private
    colleges.

    advantage of over 500 transfer agreements between
    UW and WTCS campuses. These agreements permit
    occupational courses in specific degree programs
    to transfer into a UW major.
  • UW-Colleges transfer guides list courses, grade
    point, and other requirements for your intended
    major at the transfer school. Use the links to be
    "on track" in your major when transferring to
    another UW campus. If the campus you're
    interested in has not developed a guide for your
