CHARGE
  • Charge of Campus Climate Committee
  • To address the issues within the workplace and
    learning environment that can influence whether
    an individual feels personally safe, listened to,
    valued and treated fairly and with respect on the
    Metro State campus.

GUIDING PRINCIPLES
  • Vision To make all individuals (of all
    ethnicities) feel valued and supported at Metro
    State.
  • Mission To work toward broad ranged
    understanding of the value of gaining the HSI
    designation and to work toward correcting
    misconceptions about the perceived negative
    impact of achieving HSI designation.

Create a new campaign name
  • Hispanic Serving Institution creates many
    images for the campus community that of ONLY
    serving the Hispanic community to the detriment
    of other ethnic and social groups.

  • PROPOSALS
  • Modify or Create a Website
  • To increase the visibility. This would include
  • FAQs
  • BLOG so visitors may ask more questions and gain
    additional feedback
  • Education site
  • show how diverse Metro State campus is
  • provide examples of best practices and how they
    will serve all students, staff and faculty
  • Economic impact of increasing the number of
    minorities with degrees
  • Set up a fun diversity quiz on the website with
    prizes
  • Buy an ad in the student paper to advertise the
    BLOG to students

  • 2. Schedule Town Hall meetings
  • Open forum, educational opportunities for
    education of our students.
  • Develop a Campaign Brochure
  • This will resemble an elevator speech and
    include talking points for faculty and staff.
  • Bring Cultural Events to Campus for All
    Backgrounds
  • Submit a proposal to the Diversity Initiatives
    Committee.

  • Obtain more support for the Student Academic
    Success Area
  • 6. Create an Institutional Master Calendar
  • This calendar would be highly visible and
    highlight ongoing diversity events at Metro
    State.

  • Create a Multicultural Environment on Campus
  • (kindergarten atmosphere)
  • The multicultural environment will showcase and
    integrate the history, art, and influence of
    historically under-represented minorities on the
    Auraria campus, specifically the Metro State
    properties.
