  • Use the chart on pg. 124 to answer the following
    questions.
  • What are the advantages of word processing?

    related to its use?

    research findings?

  • Definition To organize and manipulate numerical
    data.
  • Also referred to as worksheets.
  • Information is stored in rows and columns.
  • Relative Advantage organize, compare,
    calculate, copy, graph, predict, problem solve,
    time saver, etc.

Using Spreadsheets
  • Look at your bag. Make predictions based on the
    data collection sheet (before computer activity).
  • Open the Bag, sort and count the MMs (before
    computer activity).
  • Open Microsoft Excel and create a spreadsheet to
    graph the data (during computer activity). Be
    sure your name is one your graph somewhere. Use
    these instructions to guide your work

  • Print your chart and graph and place it in your
    folder.

Using Spreadsheets
After Computer
  • Find a SC Standard in your content area for which
    students could create a graph. Include the math
    standard and NET-S as well.
  • Write an activity (short paragraph) that students
    would do related to organizing and graphing.
  • Create an example of the graph.
  • Include the activity description, your name, and
    the standards somewhere on the graph or
    worksheet.
  • Save the graph in the tshare. Print your
    activity and place it in your folder.
