  • I dont mind people making mistakes. You can
always make up for them. I would hate to think
Ive got players with talent who dont use it for
    fear of making mistakes.

  • You have to see yourself as part of a larger
unit. The only difference between myself and my
players is that I have certain responsibilities
specific to my role as coach.

  • While cutting people is a hard thing to do,
youre letting down the team if you dont let
    them go.
  • Really, my whole coaching style is telling the
truth be it good or bad.

7
Ron Barassi - Football
  • Be fair and really care, And, above all, be
    honest

  • Personality is most important. You can have the
best athlete in the world, but if the mind isnt
directed its a waste of everyones time.
  • We look at people who accept challenges and who
are prepared to strive beyond their current
    horizons

9
Bob Dwyer Rugby Union
  • Some people respond to subtle forms of
encouragement and others to more aggressive
forms. It is important to recognise that every
    person is different.
  • If you want the right results, you must spend
some time developing the most effective way to
    encourage the best from everyone.
