2Activation of PVX software
- If the software is not activated, the PVX
software will run for 5 minutes and then
disconnect the call - The Polycom PVX CD case will have the licence key
printed on the back. You will need to use the
licence number and retrieve an activation key
from the Polycom website. This is a once only
process. Once you have your key you do not need
to generate a new one on subsequent installs - The process for retrieving an activation key

3Click on the i icon and this will bring the
screen shown on the RHS. The licence number is
shown and you will need to click on activate and
enter the key numbers you received from the
Polycom website as per the previous slide
4Key in your Activation code and then click
activate
5Which version of Polycom PVX do you have ?
- The version can be seen on the front cover of the
CD case or - Clicking on the information i will bring up
the specs of your PVX client
6Issues with version v8.02
- v8.02 does not recognise duo core processors (
these exist in any computer purchased in the last
12 18 months) and the functionality of the
software can be degraded, for example the
inability to share your desktop - Users can download the newer version (v8.04) from
the following URL - version 8.0.4 is file PVX8044035.zip eg the

- The install wizard will guide you through the
process and the default settings will provide a
clean install - Follow all default settings and when prompted for
a name and email address, follow these guidelines - If the Polycom software will be a shared resource
across a site, then use the site name and if - It is tied to a particular user then use their
name and email address

9Installation contd . Audio setup
- Choose the appropriate inputs and outputs that
you are using - Calibrate the microphone so that when talking
into the mic you see green and yellow activity.
Red activity will reflect audio distortion - If the microphone is not calibrating or
responding, close the PVX client and go into
sound recorder to test the mic and then
relaunch the PVX client - With the echo cancellation option, choose
internal as shown opposite
10Installing webcam drivers
- Many webcam drivers offer a range of services
such as messaging. Do not install these extra
services as they can cause troubleshooting issues
down the track
11Adding the Video Conference Bridge entry into the
address bookClick on the directory icon and
select new from the bottom of the window and
key in the following details in the dialogue
boxName DECS VC bridgeIP address
172.19.1.9 and then click add
12Speed settings
- Please note
- the call rate should be set to 384. Leave it at
that speed even if planned VC sessions will be
scheduled at a slower speed. Sessions can connect
at speeds less than 384 but if the default is
128, then users cannot connect at speeds above
128
13Be aware of the following message
- If you are calling the DECS VC Bridge to join a
conference that you are enrolled for and see the
following
This message means that you are trying to join a
VC session that is not yet scheduled to start.
