1
Radical Rain
  • Made By Brooke, Elizabeth Claire C.

2
Rain Cycle
  • First, the heat from the sun evaporates water
then tiny droplets of water condense to make
    clouds.
  • Next, cold air makes more water condense and form
    large droplets that falls.
  • Then, the water runs down hills into rivers.
  • Finally, the river flows down to the sea.

3
When Does Rain Come?
  • Rain comes in monsoon season, witch is in the
    Summer
  • It comes during July thru August

4
Where does all the rain Water go?
  • When it rains, do you ever wonder where all that
    water goes?
  • Richard Brill, an earth and physical science
professor at Honolulu Community College says
water from rain basically winds up in one of two
places some of it drains back into the ocean,
the rest evaporates back into the atmosphere as
water vapor. Brill says it's all part of the
    hydrologic cycle.
  • At any time, about 98 percent of all the water on
Earth is in the oceans. Most of the rest is
frozen into polar ice caps and glaciers. A very
small amount is in the form of water vapor in the
atmosphere. This is where it condenses into
clouds and eventually falls, again, as rain, over
    land or over the ocean.
  • This evaporation and condensation of water in the
atmosphere and on the surface is the driving
force behind the action of storms and weather
    systems.

Did You Know?
  • Did you know that there are 3 types of rain?
There is Orographic, Frontal, and Convective!
  • Did you know that rain falls about 4 millimeters
    per hour?
  • NOW YOU KNOW!

6
Rain Forming
  • How does rain form?Water droplets form from warm
air. As the warm air rises in the sky it cools.
Water vapor (invisible water in the air) always
exists in our air. Warm air holds quite a bit of
water. For example, in the summer it is usually
very humid. When enough of these droplets collect
together, we see them as clouds. If the clouds
are big enough and have enough water droplets,
the droplets bang together and form even bigger
    drops.
  • What causes rain? When clouds develop or rain
occurs, something is making the air rise. Several
things can make this happen. Mountains,
low-pressure areas, cold fronts, and even the jet
stream. s. When the drops get heavy, they fall
because of gravity, and you see and feel rain.
  • How big are raindrops?Raindrops are much smaller
than we think! They are actually smaller than a
centimeter. Raindrops range from 1/100 inch
    (.0254 centimeter) to 1/4 inch (.635 centimeter)
    in diameter.

7
Where Rain Occurs
  • Rain is mostly in the tropical, but the dry
    hardly gets any.

8
This is the End of our Journey
  • Thank you for joining us as we learned all the
    cool facts about rain!
  • We hope you enjoyed our presentation and learned
    a lot!
