Chuck Jones created the Wile E. Coyote and Road
Runner series as a parody to Tom and Jerry. At
first, the author didn't see the characters as
being a central theme for a series, first
creating only a short movie with a series of
funny incidents involving the two. Still, the
audience really liked the predator whose hunts
always end in disaster and a second show was
released in 1952. He then released 2 or 3
cartoons per year until he left Warner Bros in
1963, one of which was nominated for an Academy
Award.
