What is a butterfly?

• Butterflies are beautiful, flying insects with
  large scaly wings.

Body Parts

• Butterflies have three main body parts. The
  head(top), thorax(chest), and the abdomen(the
  tail end).

• A butterfly has 6 jointed legs, which 4 are long
  and 2 are short. It also has an antennae and an
  exoskeleton.

• The butterfly has a unique body part that
  contains the muscles that allows the butterfly to
  move. This part is called the thorax.
