Each November, the Tennessee State Department of
Education releases a report card on each of the
states systems and schools.The report card
contains information on
  • student demographics
  • attendance rates
  • promotion rates
  • graduation rates
  • dropout rates
  • academic achievement and
  • NCLB benchmarks.

Overall, the 2004 Memphis City Schools State
Report Card indicates the following
  • Success Virtually all students and all student
    sub-groups showed impressive gains toward
    achieving state academic standards.
  • Challenge Memphis City Schools students are
    performing below state averages in most areas.

Value-Added
  • 2003-2004 results of the Tennessee Value-Added
    Assessment System (TVAAS) have not been made
    available yet by the state department of
    education. Value-added reports will now be based
    on CRT data, and an equating process is underway.
    This information will be added to the 2004 State
    Report Card upon its completion.
