What has been the role of your Epi Workgroup?

• -Identified consequence and consumption data
• -Analyzed interpreted data according to certain
  dimensions
• Size/Magnitude (numbers/frequencies, rates)
• Impact (depth of problem across dimensions
  social costs are high)
• State ranking in prevalence
• -Recommended specific priorities to Adv Council

What do you anticipate your Epi Workgroup doing
in the future?

• Revitalizing and reconstituting the SEW
  membership
• Preparing a more user-friendly version of the
  epidemiological profile for public distribution
• Addressing gaps in the alcohol and other drug
  consumption and consequence data, most notably
  when looking at 18-24 year olds.
• Creating a rapid response to monitor, acquire
  and analyze emerging substance use and abuse
  trends.

What will help your Epi Workgroup to accomplish
these future tasks?

• Regular, focused meetings
• New membership infusion
• RFP/Grant Rollout Expect high level of TA from
  SEW
• Finding additional and timely data sources (e.g.,
  hospital ED drug admissions, DOC data)

What challenges do you anticipate?

• Keeping outside members motivated after grant
  rollout
• Data lags
• Obtaining more relevant data on 18-24 year olds
  (Consumption and Consequences)
• Explaining SPF-SIG goals and processes to
  community groups
• Monitoring and assisting in data collection
