Tackling the non-communicable disease agenda

    threat of non-communicable diseases in developing
    countries (including mental health, trauma,
    cardiovascular diseases and cancer)

Research for International Tobacco Control
  • With Canadas IDRC
  • Mission is to create a strong research, funding
    and knowledge base for the development of
    effective tobacco control policies

Mental Health and Poverty Project
  • Led by University of Cape Town
  • Purpose is to develop, implement and evaluate
    mental health policy in poor countries by
  • Analysing existing mental health policies in 4
    African countries
  • developing interventions to assist in the
    development and implementation of mental health
    policies in those countries,
  • evaluating the policy implementation
  • 2.2M 2005-2010
