10Mentoring
- It was identified that some
- participants required more direct
- mentoring specific to the training that
- they had received.
- Collane developed a flexible model to
- encourage and assist participants to
- identify a realistic career plan that
- they could give a commitment to
- Encourage participants to make
- decisions and representations for
- themselves
11- The group was developed as a result of the
training where the participants had developed a
greater awareness and understanding of each other
and wanted to continue to support each other. - Opportunity to be kept informed of training and
employment opportunities.
12- This was not an issue for the project as
participants were encouraged to take
responsibility to be independent - The training was held at times and days to fit in
with school and crèche hours - The quality and value of the programme motivated
participants to travel, in some cases 40 miles
13Employers
- Potential employers were
- contacted to identify their
- requirements
- Participants were promoted
- on their suitability for the
- position
- Reach for Business Training
- Back up and support after
- placements
14Case Study Ex Offender
- Referred from the local Jobs Club
- The Co-ordinator identified an employer and, with
the clients permission, fully explained the
situation concerning her lack of references.
Following several meetings and on the foot of
verbal commitments this service user was
successfully placed in a retail position where
she worked for eight months.
15Case Study Ex Offender
- Long hours / continuous week-end work forced a
move to a position with a different company.
Again REACH provided initial support and again
she proved herself to hard working and reliable
even in the face of late hours and long, hard
shifts. - This service user succeeded in proving to herself
that she was of value and can now independently
promote herself to employers without her past
being an issue. - Recently used her two excellent references to
secure a new position where both she and her
employer are happy.
