• What are NVQs?
• National Vocational Qualifications (NVQs) are
  qualifications gained in the workplace. They are
  based on
• National Occupational Standards. When you achieve
  your NVQ it will show that you are competent in
  your job and that you can work to the standards
  expected by employers in industry. This means
  being able to actually do a job, and knowing and
  understanding the essential information that is
  needed to do the job well.
• Who are NVQs for?
• If you are in work, you have already developed
  the necessary skills and knowledge through your
  work experience. An NVQ will give you proof of
  this experience.
• If you are training with an employer, a training
  organisation or a college, you will need to
  develop and practise your skills and gain all the
  relevant knowledge needed for the job.
• Your NVQ will be awarded once you can show that
  you can work consistently to the national
  standards.
