What prompted Mojave

• Apple's "Get a Mac" campaign was launched in
  2006,
• Since 2006, Apple increased its market share by
  42
• Apple's laptop sales were up 20 in December 2008
  compared to the same period in 2007

What is the Mojave Experiment

• A blind study to find out what users think of
  Windows Vista
• To do this the operating system was disguised as
  a new system code-named Mojave
• Average score given to Mojave was 8.5
• Average score before demo was 4.4

The Mojave Experiment Contd

• Participants were current users of many current
  operating from pre-XP versions of Windows to
  Linux
• Was performed on a HP dv2000 notebook with 2GB of
  RAM
• 19 of respondents rated Mojave a 10
• Some participants would have rated higher if had
  more time to play with it themselves

Criticisms of the Mojave Experiment

• Less than ½ of participants thoughts and views
  on the experiment were shown
• Demos were controlled and often times led by an
  experienced Vista user
• Not all footage was made available to the public
  to view
• Critical of overall design of the experiment
