    general themes of interest to candidates.

Structure of speaking test
  • Presentation - 3 minutes.
  • Candidates will not be interrupted and will have
    access to pro-forma
  • Questions on presentation 2 minutes.
  • Examiner will engage in discussion with
    candidate on aspects of presentation
  • General conversation 8-9 minutes.
  • Examiner will ask candidates questions on
    general themes of interest to candidate

Marks and AO allocation
  • Presentation. 20 marks. Assessing AO2 knowledge
    of topic.
  • Questions on presentation. 10 marks. Assessing
    AO1 ability to respond to questions and take
    initiative
  • General conversation. 40 marks. Assessing AO1 (
    30) and AO3 (10) command of idiom and
    vocabulary

Pro- forma
  • Must be submitted to CCEA by end of December /
    end of March
  • Should contain title and approx 5 headings
  • Must contain no more than 60 words excluding
    title
  • The candidate may not make any additions to this
    after the submission date
  • May be used as a prompt by candidates during
    their presentation

  • Candidates answer 1 question only
