ColdFusion MX 7(?) Blackstone

• When last we assembled, Ben Forta told us about a
  pile of potential new features in Blackstone
• Since then, round 1 of Beta invitations have been
  sent out
• Sadly, no, Im not on it ?
• Quick feature review
• Sweet Form creation/management
• Improved printing support (FlashPaper)
• Integrated reporting services
• Sourceless deployment!
• Better CF instance management
• And lots more!

• Central is a new way of thinking about web
  applications
• Occasionally Connected instead of Always On
• Biggest news is the AOL IM service integration
• Write apps that utilize the same chat service we
  use everyday!
• File I/O This is not exactly possible with
  Flash player alone
• Now you can build rich apps that interface with
  the desktop seamlessly!
• Auto network detection
• Managed deployment
• Licensing changes to benefit the developer and
  application owner

• Ever want to put video on your website but dont
  have the time/expertise to figure out how?
• The Flash Video Kit makes this process somewhat
  easierand its cheap!
• Can use hosted streaming service if your video is
  too large
• Quick demo of how easy this is to dono Flash/AS2
  knowledge necessary!

Flash Paper 2

• Flash Paper is a great alternative to PDF
• File size is much smaller
• Can embed Flash Paper documents in a webpage
  operates fully within the Flash Player
• Flash Paper 2 extends this success with better
  print support and instant conversion to PDF(!)
• Try this its so much easier on your users than
  PDF

Flex/Flex Builder

• Flex is an application server used to create rich
  internet applications using a tag-based syntax.
• Flex Builder came out over the summer and is a
  remarkably stable port of the Dreamweaver core
• RIA development was never so easy -)

• Well never take this much time off again.
• Next Meeting is on November 18, same place, same
  time
• Blackstone updates, a real life Contribute/CPS
  application, and hopefully someone on Hardcore
  CSS
