Definition

• An adverb is a word used to modify a verb, an
  adjective, or another adverb.
• Adverbs can come before or after the word or
  words they modify.
• Remember Modify means to tell more about
• There are four types of adverbs time, place,
  manner, and degree

Adverbs of time

• Adverbs of time tell when, how often, and how
  long.
• tomorrow often always never
• Jen rarely has time to go swimming.

Adverbs of place

• Adverbs of place tell where, to where, or from
  where.
• there backward outside
• Well set up our tent here.

Adverbs of Manner

• Adverbs of manner often end in ly and tell how
  something is done.
• Unkindly gently well
• Ahmed boldly entered the dark cave.
• Some words used as adverbs can be written with or
  without the ly ending.
• slow, slowly deep, deeply
• NOTE Not all words ending in ly are adverbs.
  Lovely, for example, is an adjective.

• Adverbs of degree tell how much or how little.
• scarcely entirely generally very really
• Jess is usually the leader in there situations.
