What is AiDA?

• Everyday we are faced with vast amounts of
  information
• Much of this information will be stored, analysed
  and presented using digital methods i.e. using
  computer hardware and software
• You need to learn how to use these digital
  applications with information efficiently

What is AiDA?

• It is
• Equivalent to one GCSE
• The first unit of DiDA (Diploma in Digital
  Applications)
• Called Using ICT
• Designed to give you practical ICT skills you can
  use in the real world

What do I study?

• A range of Digital Applications (software) i.e
• Web based e.g. Browser and Email software
• Office applications e.g. Database, Spreadsheet,
  Word Processing Software
• Presentation software e.g. Desk Top Publishing,
  Multimedia and Web Authoring
• Graphics software
• Sound and Video editing software

• You will also need to learn about
• Sources of information
• Collecting, storing and analysing information
• Presenting information in paper based and online
  formats

• Plan a major project
• Create an E-Portfolio to present your work
• Review and evaluate a major project
• Manage files and folders
• Work safely and legally!

How is AiDA assessed?

• Here comes the good news
• There is no examination for AiDA
• You will work on the coursework project set by
  the exam board
• This is known as the Summative Project Brief or
  SPB
• You will practice the skills needed using the
  mock SPB, but will work independently on the real
  thing

What do I need to do for the SPB?

• Gather information including conducting your own
  survey
• Work with and analyse the information you have
  gathered
• Get the message across in a range of paper or
  online documents

• You will also need to develop Project Management
  skills including
• Planning your Project
• Monitoring and Reviewing your Plan
• Evaluating your Project
• File Management

Displaying your work in an e-portfolio

• You will present all the work you do for the SPB
  in an

• This is similar to a website
