HTMLs Relationship to SGML

• HTML is an SGML application.

• Element names are case-insensitive.
• All elements must use an end tag that closes back
  to the matching start tag.

XHTML Elements

• XHTML uses attributes from HTML4 and can be used
  on existing browsers.
• When using XHTML you can specify which
  attributes of elements represent hyperlinks and
  how they are to be used.

XHTML Compared to HTML

• XHTML elements must be properly nested where as
  in HTML you could get away with inproperly
  nesting elements.
• XHTML must be lower case, HTML was case
  incensitive.

How the Validation System Works

• Validation system gives the users a few options
  in validating there web pages. The first option
  is to type the url of the site being tested. The
  second option is to upload the sites file. The
  final option is to validate using the direct
  input option.

• It is a tool to add style to your web documents
  like different fonts color and spacing.
