OUR VISION

• TO ESTABLISH A COMMUNITY RADIO IN
  POST-CONFLICT BOUGAINVILLE, PAPUA NEW GUINEA.

• To Allow Freedom of expression by this
  independent media contribute in community
  empowerment post-conflict democracy building
  throughout the Region.

OBJECTIVE

• Is to Strengthen Bougainville Autonomy through
  Radio Broadcasting by providing information more
  audience participation and community Development.

Why New Dawn FM was Established

• When Peace was returning
• There was a need to provide
• News and General
• Information to the People
• divided by the Ten Year Old
• Bloody conflict which killed
• 20,000 people and 40,000
• displaced.

We started looking for people to help establish
the Station.
A lunch time meeting in Sydney of former Radio
Managers in PNG Keith Jackson, Phil Charley,
Martin Hadlow and our former Chairman Carolus
Ketsimur mooted the idea of approaching Unesco to
support the Project.

• After nearly two years of negotiations UNESCO
  approved USD 20,000 for the payment of Studio
  Equipments.
• German Government through the Ambassador for
  Pacific States based in Canberra approved for the
  funding of Transmitter Equipments in 2007.

OFFICIAL TEST

• Test started April,2008
• Transmitter and Antenea were destroyed by strong
  winds in July 2008.
• We started Broadcasting in October 2008.
• Our Broadcast Times 0500-2400 Daily.

• Since New Dawn FM started Broadcasting,
• We have covered mostly all the activities that
• are hapenning throughout Bougainville.
• We carried Live Broadcasts for the Mourning and
  Burial of the
• late ABG President, LATE JOE KABUI.
• The Presidential By Election and also his
  inauguration.
• The ABG this year gave us Supporting Grants of
  K50,000 for
• contributing to the Bougainville Peace Process.
• We are currently building our Office and Studios
  in Buka
• And hopefully, we will launch New Dawn FM in
  November
• 2009.

FUTURE OUTLOOK

• The future of New Dawn FM looks bright as we have
  just secured funding from the PNG Government to
  do Referendum Awareness for the next five years
  2009-2015.
• We have also secured funds to launch two repeater
  FM Transmitters between Buka and Arawa and full
  Studio in Arawa. This is to coincide with the
  move by ABG President to set up his office in
  Arawa the former Capital of Bougainville.
