Title: Simple questions

1
Simple questions
2
Ne is used to indicate a question
  • The ne is usually the second word in a sentence.

3
Why call them simple questions?
  • The reason we call them simple questions is that
you can only get basic yes or no responses. If a
person wants to tell more he or she could but the
question it set up for a yes or no type response.

4
How do we ask questions with more depth?
  • In a later lesson we will address how to ask
who, what, when, where questions in more depth. We
have already had a few pop up in previous
lessons. They will be addressed in depth in there
    own section.

5
Which word is the word are?
  • Gmaji ne? Are you leaving?
  • Maji ne? Is she leaving?
  • Gmajimen ne? Are we all leaving?
  • The answer is none. When we translate the word
back into English makes more sense to say are you
leaving instead of the literal you leave question.

6
Examples
  • Gbekte ne? Are you hungry?
  • Ggiwisen ne? Did you eat?
  • Migadik ne? Are they fighting?
  • Gdotmes ne? Are you busy?
  • Gdozhita ne? Are you ready?
  • Gwi tadi ne? Are you going to gamble?
  • Gpeknage ne? Are you winning?

7
More Examples
  • Wabek ne gwi gwedemojge?
  • Are you going fishing tomorrow?
  • Nago ne ngi mikchewi.
  • I worked yesterday.
  • Nago ne gi giwe o kwe?
  • Did that woman go home yesterday?
  • Gmajim ne ode jo pi.
  • Are you all leaving right now?

8
Final thoughts
  • These type questions are simple enough you should
be able to start using them right away with your
AI verbs from previous lesson. Just remember to
put the ne second in the sentence but dont put
it between the pronoun and the verb.
  • So dont say gwi ne maji? This would be incorrect.
