What is this world watch all about?

• I decided each week to look at key events that
  had happened in that week and look at them with
  the Bible in hand.
• I hope to build up a picture of Gods hand working
  in the affairs of this world bringing about that
  day when all nations will be gathered to
  Jerusalem to battle which will be brought to end
  when the Lord Jesus Christ physically returns
  from heaven to set up Gods kingdom.
• The key areas which will crop up time and again
  will be
• Israel Middle East the growing conflict
• Europe the developing union / political and
  religious
• Russia continued turning back to anti west ways
• The development of King of South US UK
• Declining moral standards and increasing violence.

• Weekly Developments
• These are just a few of the events that have
  caught my eye in the previous week. It is in no
  way meant to be exhaustive just a look at those
  events I saw as significant from a Bible
  viewpoint.
• Headlines
• These are always headlines printed in the
  newspaper the date is always given and which
  paper. Normally the Daily Telegraph. (DT)
• Event
• This is usually the newspapers take on the events
  that have happened. It will always be a direct
  quote from the newspaper.
• Comment
• This is my take on why it is interesting from a
  Bible point of view. The idea of this weekly
  world watch is to give a quick Biblical
  perspective without going into detail. If more
  detail is needed please email me.
• Bible Quote
• This is normally one verse which backs up why the
  event that has occurred is interesting from a
  Biblical perspective. Please read in its context.

Israel launches fresh Gaza raids

• Headline
• Israel launches fresh Gaza raids

• Event
• Israel has launched more air strikes against the
  Gaza Strip, at sites it said were linked to
  militant groups. Missiles struck buildings in
  Gaza City, knocking out power nearby, and in a
  refugee camp in central Gaza. Artillery was also
  used for the first time.
• The continued barrage, which started at the
  weekend, comes a fortnight after Israel withdrew
  from the Gaza Strip. Talks between Israeli Prime
  Minister Ariel Sharon and Palestinian leader
  Mahmoud Abbas have been postponed.
• Comment
• The Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, a Palestinian
  militant group, has this week called off its 6
  month truce with Israel. Hamas on the other hand
  has been forced to make concessions this week as
  it is facing criticisms from within for causing
  the Israeli missile attacks. Israel has obviously
  decided to stamp down hard on Gaza, launching air
  strikes and using artillery for the first time in
  this present conflict. What next? Well the verses
  below seem to indicate that the Philistines
  (Palestinians) will devour Israel for they do not
  seek the LORD of hosts. However see Ezekiel
  251516

  the Philistines behind and they shall devour
  Israel with open mouth. For all this his anger is
  not turned away, but his hand is stretched out
  still.13 For the people turneth not unto him
  that smiteth them, neither do they seek the LORD
  of hosts.14 Therefore the LORD will cut off from
  Israel head and tail, branch and rush, in one day.

Israel Arab nuclear spat

• Event
• Israel has described as "cynically motivated" an
  attempt by Arab countries to declare its alleged
  nuclear capabilities a menace to peace. Arab
  nations made the demand at the annual conference
  of the United Nations nuclear watchdog in Vienna.
  
• They have made similar requests every year but
  failed to win support.
• Israel is the only Middle East country widely
  believed to possess nuclear weapons but it
  refuses to acknowledge or deny their existence.
• Comment
• There seems little doubt that Israel has nuclear
  weapons. It only came to light in the mid 1980s
  when an Israeli technician took photographs and
  gave his story to the Sunday Times in London.
  Israel jailed him for 18 years. He was released
  last year and has been rearrested this year.
  However, Israel possessing the ultimate weapon
  has probably spurred on other Arab nations to
  develop them themselves. Eg Iran. There is surely
  a distinct possibility that these weapons will be
  used in the future. The effects of a nuclear
  explosion are identical to those described below.

• Austria sabotages Turkish EU talks

• Event
• Efforts to salvage one of the most ambitious and
  controversial projects in European Union history
  - the opening of talks to admit Turkey - ended in
  failure yesterday.
• Turkish membership talks are due to begin on
  Monday. But Austria left the process deadlocked
  by sticking to demands that Turkey be offered
  something less than full membership. Austria's
  ambassador said the accession agreement should be
  stripped of a pledge that the goal of entry talks
  is EU accession for Turkey.
• Comment
• Turkey is mentioned in Bible prophecy. Revelation
  16 talks of the Euphrates drying up. The river
  Euphrates begins in Turkey. The drying up of the
  river Euphrates therefore is symbolic of the
  drying up of the Ottoman Empire. (Turkish
  Empire).The history of the last century shows a
  steady "drying up" of the Ottoman empire. It used
  to control a huge area of land (including
  Israel). So the "Way" is being prepared first by
  the removal of the Turk from that region, and
  then by the return of the Jews and the
  development of the land of Israel. We also know
  that Russia will descend on Israel by coming
  through Turkey. Daniel 11. If Turkey joins the
  EU, Russia would be invading Europe on the way
  down this seems unlikely as Russia and Europe
  will have the same objectives destroying
  Israel.

Russian reaction to German poll

• Russian reaction to German poll

• Event
• There is no hiding the fact that many in Russia
  are hoping that it is Gerhard Schroeder who comes
  out on top following Germany's inconclusive
  election.
• The mood was caught by the populist newspaper
  Komsomolskaya Pravda on Tuesday, when it summed
  up the situation in Germany saying "What would
  be best for Russia? Unquestionably, the retention
  of power by the Kremlin's 'friend Gerhard'."
• Mr Schroeder has forged close ties with the
  Russian leader. Mr Schroeder has built the
  closest relationship any European leader has with
  Vladimir Putin.
• They have held meetings almost every few weeks.
• Comment
• Germany became the seat of the European beast
  system. The left leg of Nebuchadnezzars image.
  Russia became the seat of the dragon system the
  right leg of Nebuchadnezzars image. They both
  unite in wanting to destroy the saints and
  remove the Jews from the land of Israel. It is
  this closeness in purpose and objective both now
  (see above) and in the future that makes me think
  that Germany will stay allied to Russia. Mr
  Schröder, though technically losing the German
  election is somehow hanging on to power!
  Interesting that he is being depicted in the
  German press as Julius Caesar the ancient ruler
  of the Roman Empire!

Marriage in UK in terminal decline

• Marriage on the rocks as fewer say I do
• Headline DT September 30
• Event
• Marriage is in terminal decline, Government
  figures showed yesterday. Within 25 years nearly
  half of all men in their mid-forties and more
  than a third of women will not have walked up the
  aisle.
• In the same period, the number of people
  cohabiting will have more than doubled to nearly
  four million.
• The figures published in a Population Trends
  report by Whitehall actuaries prompted fresh
  warnings from family campaigners that Government
  policies had marginalised marriage.
• Cohabitation was less stable, the campaigners
  said, ending on average after under three years,
  with profound implications for any children
  involved.
• Comment
• Religion is in terminal decline in the UK a
  report said a few weeks ago and now another
  report says that marriage is in the same state.
  Marriage is actually the bed rock of society. It
  was ordained by God at the very beginning. It was
  and still is a symbol of Christ and his church
  (ecclesia). It provides the perfect environment
  and balance for children to be bought up. As
  marriages break up and fewer even get married we
  will see at the same time the terminal decline of
  societyAnother sign of the times

  unto his wife and they shall be one flesh.
