Financial Statement Audit - 2007
  • I have audited and found correct the
    finanicial statements for the year 2007 presented
    to me by Bryon Edwards during April 2008. The
    statements continue to be improved each year and
    have incorporated all the suggestions I have
    made. Included in the audit was the redemption of
    a GIC for 5204.83.

  • MLA volunteers provide weekly rainfall data to
    MVC
  • MVC provides water level data to MLA
  • Graph updated weekly on MLA Website
  • includes year to date levels, historical average
    levels and target range
  • useful to determine whether water level changes
    may affect docks and boat lifts

Marker Buoys Ed Carew
  • Began installing buoys on May 24th
  • The Miss L.A. pontoon boat is performing very
    well with its new motor
  • Marker locations shown on Website, Newsletter
    Maps, and laminated maps (for sale _at_ 5.00 per
    map).

Water Quality Sampling Program
  • 2002 - MVC sampled Mississippi Lake (Watershed
    Watch Program5 year cycle)
  • 2006 - Initiated an Annual Sampling Program in
    partnership with MVC
  • Followed the Watershed Watch Protocol
  • 2007 - Lake Partner Program Sampling Watershed
    Watch (MVC)
  • Although results are encouraging, MLA would like
    to expand on the program

2007 Water Quality Sampling
  • MVC re-sampled with Watershed Watch
  • Mississippi Lake was adopted by Canadian Waste
    Management (late in season)
  • Lake was sampled 4 times
  • Re-sampled with Lake Partner Program
  • Sampled 5 additional sites for phosphorus
    including inlet and outlet (test project)
  • 2008 Resample 2 main sites, including inlet and
    outlet, in partnership with MVC

Uranium Mining in Watershed
  • MLA Executive passed motion to support the call
    for a moratorium on uranium exploration and
    mining in Eastern Ontario
  • 18 Municipal Councils including Beckwith, DNE and
    Carleton Place have petitioned the Province for a
    moratorium
  • So far the Province has totally ignored these
    petitions
