The woman Babylon of Revelation 17 is
described as arrayed in purple and scarlet
color, and decked with gold and precious stones
and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full
of abominations and filthiness...and upon her
forehead was a name written, Mystery, Babylon
the Great, the mother of harlots. Says the
prophet I saw the woman drunk with the blood of
the saints, and with the blood of the martyrs of
Jesus. Babylon is further declared to be that
great city, which reigneth over the kings of the
earth. Revelation 1746, 18. The power that for
so many centuries maintained despotic sway over
the monarchs of Christendom is Rome. The purple
and scarlet color, the gold and precious stones
and pearls, vividly picture the magnificence and
more than kingly pomp affected by the haughty see
of Rome. And no other power could be so truly
declared drunken with the blood of the saints
as that church which has so cruelly persecuted
the followers of Christ. Babylon is also charged
with the sin of unlawful connection with the
kings of the earth. It was by departure from the
Lord, and alliance with the heathen, that the
Jewish church became a harlot and Rome,
corrupting herself in like manner by seeking the
support of worldly powers, receives a like
condemnation. The Great Controversy, 382.

 In the Revelation all the books of the Bible
meet and end. Here is the complement of the book
of Daniel. One is a prophecy the other a
revelation. The book that was sealed is not the
Revelation, but that portion of the prophecy of
Daniel relating to the last days. A.A 585.1

Rev 171 And there came one of the seven angels
which had the seven vials, and talked with me,
saying unto me, Come hither I will shew unto
thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth
upon many waters Rev 172 With whom the kings
of the earth have committed fornication, and the
inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk
with the wine of her fornication. Rev 173 So
he carried me away in the spirit into the
wilderness and I saw a woman sit upon a scarlet
coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy,
having seven heads and ten horns.

Verse 1 And there came one of the seven angels
which had the seven vials. -(Rev 151 And I saw
another sign in heaven, great and marvellous,
seven angels having the seven last plagues for
in them is filled up the wrath of God.) and
talked with me, saying unto me, Come hither I
will shew unto thee the judgment of the great
whore -(A whore is an impure woman (church) that
commits spiritual adultery with other men.) that
sitteth upon many waters (Rev 1715 And he saith
unto me, The waters which thou sawest, where the
whore sitteth, are peoples, and multitudes, and
nations, and tongues.) Verse 2 With whom the
kings of the earth have committed fornication (A
consensual sexual intercourse between two persons
not married to each other. Prophetic meaning The
combination of church and state.), and the
inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk
with the wine of her fornication (Jer 517
Babylon hath been a golden cup in the LORD'S
hand, that made all the earth drunken the
nations have drunken of her wine therefore the

Verse 3 So he carried me away in the spirit
into the wilderness (Rev 126 And the woman
fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place
prepared of God, that they should feed her there
a thousand two hundred and threescore days. And
also Rev 1214 And to the woman were given two
wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into
the wilderness, into her place, where she is
nourished for a time, and times, and half a time,
from the face of the serpent.) and I saw a woman
sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names
of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns.

Verse 4 And the woman was arrayed in purple and

Jer 62 I have likened the daughter of Zion to a
comely and delicate woman.
Verse 5 And upon her forehead was a name
written, MYSTERY, BABYLON THE GREAT, THE MOTHER
OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. Notice
that she is already described as being the mother
of harlots indicating that she now has
daughters, which are harlots. The Protestant
reformation began when Protestants such as Huss,
Calvin, Luther and others began separating
themselves from the Church of Rome but the
protestant reformation was not complete before
God. Many of the followers stayed with their
founders and never continued with the advancing
light, which is why we have the Lutherans,
Calvinist, Baptist, Presbyterians etc. They came
to a place where they stopped
 The Reformation did not, as many suppose, end
with Luther. It is to be continued to the close
of this world's history. Luther had a great work
to do in reflecting to others the light which God
had permitted to shine upon him yet he did not
receive all the light which was to be given to
the world. From that time to this, new light has
been continually shining upon the Scriptures, and
new truths have been constantly unfolding. G.C

Because the majority of the church did not
continue with the advancing light they became
harlots, still retaining some of the doctrines of
Rome so at this point she is mother of harlots.
Please note that she was not the mother of
harlots at the beginning of this period, it was
towards the end, as the churches began to
separate but they never fully came out of her.
Verse 6 also supports this. Verse 6 And I saw
the woman drunken with the blood of the saints,
and with the blood of the martyrs of Jesus and
when I saw her, I wondered with great admiration.

Rev 177 And the angel said unto me, Wherefore
didst thou marvel? I will tell thee the mystery
of the woman, and of the beast that carrieth her,
which hath the seven heads and ten horns. Rev
178 The beast that thou sawest was, and is not
and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit, and
go into perdition and they that dwell on the
earth shall wonder, whose names were not written
in the book of life from the foundation of the
world, when they behold the beast that was, and
is not, and yet is. Rev 179 And here is the
mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven
mountains, on which the woman sitteth.

Verse 8 The beast that thou sawest was, and is
not and shall ascend out of the bottomless pit,
and go into perdition and they that dwell on the
earth shall wonder, whose names were not written
in the book of life from the foundation of the
world, when they behold the beast that was, and
is not, and yet is. Notice That thou sawest
was past tense which was from 538 to
1798AD And is not present tense it is no
longer in power is not 1798AD It shall ascend
future Bottomless pit - Now the bottomless
pit is always been used in the bible to represent
a new form of satanic manifestations. That the
expression bottomless pit represents the earth
in a state of confusion and darkness is evident
from other scriptures. The Great Controversy,
658. For example In Rev 91-2 (Which is islam)
Rev 117 (Atheism) 178 (Catholicism) Yet is -
Copying Christ The papacy has assumed a double
nature, church and sate and when it received its
deadly wound it lost its civil or stately power
but continued as a prophetic woman (church). When
Christ was crucified His humanity died but His
divinity lived, and He waited patiently for His
Father's call. So with the papacy, it is waiting
for the fulfillment of prophetic history so that
it can rise to power.

 God's word has given warning of the impending
danger let this be unheeded, and the Protestant
world will learn what the purposes of Rome really
are, only when it is too late to escape the
snare. She is silently growing into power. Her
doctrines are exerting their influence in
legislative halls, in the churches, and in the
hearts of men. She is piling up her lofty and
massive structures in the secret recesses of
which her former persecutions will be repeated.
Stealthily and unsuspectedly she is strengthening
her forces to further her own ends when the time
shall come for her to strike. All that she
desires is vantage ground, and this is already
being given her. We shall soon see and shall feel
what the purpose of the Roman element is. Whoever
shall believe and obey the word of God will
thereby incur reproach and persecution. GC 581.2

Verse 9 And here is the mind which hath wisdom.
The seven heads are seven mountains, on which the
woman sitteth. (Jer 22-3 And also Daniel 916
O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I
beseech thee, let thine anger and thy fury be
turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy
mountain because for our sins, and for the
iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy
people are become a reproach to all that are
about us.) At last he beheld in the distance the
seven-hilled city. With deep emotion he Luther
prostrated himself upon the earth, exclaiming
Holy Rome, I salute thee! The Great

CHURCHES AGREE THAT POPE HAS OVERALL
AUTHORITYTHE Pope was recognized as the overall
authority in the Christian world by an Anglican
and Roman Catholic commission yesterday which
described him as a "gift to be received by all
the Churches". ...if a new united Christian
Church was created it would be the 'Bishop of
Rome who would exercise a universal primacy. The
43-page document, The Gift of Authority, has been
produced by the 18-member Anglican-Roman Catholic
International Commission, after five years of
debate. The commission concluded that the Bishop
of Rome had a "specific ministry concerning the
discernment of truth" and accepted that only the
Pope had the moral authority to unite the various
Christian denominations. Mark Birchall, a member
of the Church of England Evangelical council,
said "It speaks as if the Bishop of Rome has
always been on the side of the angels while it is
well known that for several centuries past the
Bishop of Rome was certainly not."
The Rt Rev Cormac Murphy-O'Connor, Bishop of
Arundel and Brighton and the other co-chairman,
added "The primacy of the Pope is a gift to be

Conference of Seventh-day Adventists,1999-Present,
enrolled at Tubingen University as a student and
became the first Seventh-day Adventist to receive
a Doctorate in Theology from Tubingen in June,
1972even though Jan Paulsen had already earned a
theological degree from Emmanuel Missionary
College, now Andrews University. Source

1477 by Duke Eberhard as a Reformation seminary
to train Protestant ministers during the
Reformation. Phillip Malanchthon, the German
Reformer who did much to help the cause of the
Protestant Reformation, received his M.A. from
Tubingen University in 1512.  Later he was
appointed professor at Wittenberg where he became
acquainted with Martin Luther. He is second only
to Luther as a champion of the German
Reformation.   Unfortunately, by 1817, Tubingen
added a Roman Catholic Faculty to the School and
this resulted in what Ellen White calls the
undoing of Protestantism.   The Roman Church is
far-reaching in her plans and modes of operation.
She is employing every device to extend her
influence and increase her power in preparation
for a fierce and determined conflict to regain
control of the world, to re-establish
persecution, and to undo all that Protestantism

Consequently, Tubingen University became one of
the first religious seminaries to teach
Ecumenical Theology. This is part of the
universitys mission statement   The Protestant
and Catholic Theological Faculties of The
University Tubingen are located in the same
building and use the same teaching and research
facilities. This symbolizes decades of fruitful
cooperation and exchange of ideas between the two
Faculties...The Protestant Theological Faculty
also maintains strong relationships to the World
Council of Churches and to the international
ecumenical and missionary movements.  Source

ently, this once Protestant seminary fell victim
to the counter-Reformation The theological
seminary at Tubingen is a place where ecumenical
unity thrives. Where, according to the
Universitys website, Protestant and Roman
Catholic seminary professors have had fruitful
cooperation and exchange of ideas for decades!  
Cut from the same Cloth?  This is undoubtedly a
very serious situation when the highest
leadership of both the Roman Catholic and
Seventh-day Adventist Churchthe pope and the 
SDA presidentare products of the same
theological institution.  To be more frank, the
SDA President enrolled in a school to gain
knowledge and prepare for church
ministry/denominational employment where
prominent Roman Catholic theologians, Pope
Benedict being one, were teaching Ecumenical
Theology.

Jan Paulsens decision to attend this school
should have led the brethren of the General
Conference nominating committee to first
determine whether or not it was appropriate for
him to become the General Conference Presidentin
light of the severe  warning found in Revelation
18 Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and
is become the habitation of devils...Come out of
her, my people, that ye be not partakers of her
sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues....
Revelation 181-5.   Jan Paulsen should have
been critically examined as to whether or not he
would uphold the historical Seventh-day Adventist
positions.  Because during his tenure at Tubingen
University, he was trained by professors who
repudiate the fundamental principles of
historical Adventism. Do we not see the enormous
risk we take when we elect church leaders who
were trained by the enemies of the present truth?
Be not deceived evil communications corrupt
good manners. 1 Cor. 1533.    No cause is ever
without an effect and when SDA leaders willfully
go and become intoxicated indoctrinated with
the wine of Babylonthose decisions have profound
effects in the schools, the health work, and on
the denomination as a whole.   Notice this
statement written to those responsible for the
spiritual well-being of our people taken from 
Counsels to Teachers   And there are some
who, having secured this worldly education, think
that they can introduce it into our schools. But
let me tell you that you must not take what the
world calls the higher education and bring it
into our schools and sanitariums and churches. We
need to understand these things. I speak to you
definitely. This must not be done. Counsels to
Teachers, Fundamentals of Christian Education,
pp. 535, 536.

Rev 1710 And there are seven kings five are
fallen, and one is, and the other is not yet
come and when he cometh, he must continue a
short space.
Dan 236 This is the dream and we will tell the
interpretation thereof before the king. Dan 237
Thou, O king, art a king of kings for the God

Rev 131 3 11 And I stood upon the sand of the
sea, and saw a beast rise up out of the sea,
having seven heads and ten horns, and upon his
horns ten crowns, and upon his heads the name of
blasphemy. And I saw one of his heads as it were
wounded to death and his deadly wound was
healed and all the world wondered after the
beast. And I beheld another beast coming up out
of the earth and he had two horns like a lamb,
and he spake as a dragon.
Verse 10 The  And one is. power.
At the time when the Papacy, robbed of its
strength, was forced to desist from persecution,
John beheld a new power coming up to echo the
dragons voice, and carry forward the same cruel
and blasphemous work. This power, the last that
is to wage war against the church and the law of
God, is represented by a beast with lamblike
horns. The beasts preceding it had risen from the
sea but this came up out of the earth,
representing the peaceful rise of the nation
which it symbolizedthe United States. Signs of
the Times, February 8, 1910. ! What nation of
the New World was in 1798 rising into power,
giving promise of strength and greatness, and
attracting the attention of the world? The
application of the symbol admits of no question.
One nation, and only one, meets the
specifications of this prophecy it points
unmistakably to the United States of America.

Verse 10 And the other is not yet come and
when he cometh, he must continue a short
space. This is the Dragon power. The United
Nations. The New World Order.

Rev 1711 And the beast that was, and is not,
even he is the eighth, and is of the seven, and
goeth into perdition The papacy always comes up
as the 8th (symbolic) but is of the 7th . Read
Dan 77-8 (Rome devided into 10 kingdoms, the
papal horn was a separate power, it...the papal
rome uprooted 3 of the first horns leaving 7 with
itself being the 8th but of the 7th . Rev 131,
3 ( 7 heads on the beats, 1 receives a deadly
wound and then is resurrected as the 8th but of
the 7. Read Dan 83, 5, 9 (2 horns on ram, 1 horn
on the goat, and 4 horns divided to the four
winds, the little horn is the 8th) -The number 8
is symbolic for Resurrection. -The 1st day of the
week is mention 8 times in the New
Testament. -Jesus Christ was resurrected on the
8th day (symbolic) -Circumcision was to be
performed on the 8th day.

Rev 1712 And the ten horns which thou sawest
are ten kings, which have received no kingdom as

beast. Rev 1713 These have one mind, and shall
give their power and strength unto the beast.

Verse 12-13 The One who has not yet come is a
kingdom made up of a confederacy of ten kings.
So the ten horns match with the ten toes in
Daniel 2 which represents the United Nations of
the world also known as the New World Order
(N.W.O) which will have one mind and will give
their power and strength unto the beast. The U.N
is a political power and a spiritual power. The
world is also divided into 10 different parts.

Son of Perdition
Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you
twelve, and of you is a devil? He spake of Judus
Iscariot the son of Simon for he it was that
should betray him, being one of the twelve. John
670-71

But there came a time when paganism in the
Roman Empire fell before the advancing form of
Christianity. Then, as is stated on page 54,
"paganism had given place to the papacy. The
dragon had given to the beast 'his power, and his
seat, and great authority.'" that is, Satan then
began to work through the papacy, just as he had
formerly worked through paganism. But the papacy
is not represented by the dragon, because it is
necessary to introduce another symbol in order to
show the change in the form of the opposition to
God. Previous to the rise of the papacy, all
opposition to the law of god had been in the form
of paganism,--god had been openly defied but
from that time the opposition was carried on
under the guise of professed allegiance to him.
The papacy, however, was no less the instrument
of Satan than was pagan Rome for all the power,
the seat, and the great authority of the papacy,
were given it by the dragon. And so, although the
pope professes to be the vicegerent of Christ, he
is, in reality, the vicegerent of Satan--he is
antichrist. Great Controversy 1888 p680.1

Ephesians 220-22 And are built upon the
foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus
Christ himself being the chief corner stone In
whom all the building fitly framed together
groweth unto an holy temple in the Lord In whom
ye also are builded together for an habitation of
God through the Spirit.
2 Corinthians 614-16 Be ye not unequally yoked
together with unbelievers for what fellowship
hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what
communion hath light with darkness? And what
concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part
hath he that believeth with an infidel? And what

Deut 67-8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign
upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets
between thine eyes

he might be revealed in his time. For the mystery
of iniquity doth already work only he who now

I read on, and could find no other case in which
it the daily was found but in Daniel. I then
by the aid of an concordance took those word
which stood in connection with it, take away
he shall take away the daily from the time that
the daily shall be taken away I read on and
thought I would find no light on the text.
Finally I came to 2Thessalonians 27-8, For the
mystery of iniquity does already work only he
who now letteth will let, until he be taken out
of the way, and then shall that wicked be
revealed. And when I had come to that text, O
how clear and glorious the truth appeared. There
it is! That is the daily! Well, now, what does
Paul mean by he who now letteth or hindereth?
By the man of sin, and the wicked, Popery is
meant. Well what is it that hinders Popery from
being revealed? Why it is Paganism. Well, then,
the daily must mean paganism. Review and
Herald, January, 1858.

The light that Daniel received from God was given
especially for these last days. The visions he
saw by the banks of the Ulai and the Hiddekel,
the great rivers of Shinar, are now in process of
fulfillment, and all the events foretold will
soon come to pass. Consider the circumstances of
the Jewish nation when the prophecies of Daniel
were given. Let us give more time to the study of
the Bible. We do not understand the word as we
should. The book of Revelation opens with an
injunction to us to understand the instruction
that it contains. "Blessed is he that readeth,
and they that hear the words of this prophecy,"
God declares, "and keep those things which are
written therein for the time is at hand." When
we as a people understand what this book means to
us, there will be seen among us a great revival.
We do not understand fully the lessons that it
teaches, notwithstanding the injunction given us

The book that was sealed was not the book of
Revelation, but that portion of the prophecy of
Daniel which related to the last days. The
Scripture says, 'But thou, 0 Daniel, shut up the
words, and seal the book, even to the time of the
end many shall run to and fro, and knowledge
shall be increased.' Daniel 124. When the book
was opened, the proclamation was made, 'Time
shall be no longer.' See Revelation 106. The
book of Daniel is now unsealed, and the
revelation made by Christ to John is to come to
all the inhabitants of the earth. By the
increase of knowledge a people is to be prepared
to stand in the latter days." Selected Messages,

to worship God, our Creator, who made the world
and all things that are therein. They have paid
homage to an institution of the Papacy, making of
no effect the Law of Jehovah, but there is to be
an increase of knowledge on this subject."

Matthew 721-23 Not every one that saith unto
me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of
heaven but he that doeth the will of my Father
which is in heaven. Many will say to me in that
day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy
name? and in thy name have cast out devils? and
in thy name done many wonderful works?  And then
will I profess unto them, I never knew you
depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Meaning of Antichrist to Be Understood
Those who become confused in their understanding
of the Word, who fail to see the meaning of
antichrist, will surely place themselves on the
side of antichrist. There is no time now for us
to assimilate with the world. Daniel is standing
in his lot and in his place. The prophecies of
Daniel and of John are to be understood. They
interpret each other. They give to the world
truths which every one should understand. These
prophecies are to be witnesses in the world. By
their fulfillment in these last days they will
explain themselves. The Lord is about to punish
the world for its iniquity. He is about to punish
religious bodies for their rejection of the light
and truth which has been given them. The great
message, combining the first, second, and third
angels' messages, is to be given to the world.
This is to be the burden of our work. Those who
truly believe in Christ will openly conform to
the law of Jehovah. The Sabbath is the sign
between God and His people and we are to make
visible our conformity to the law of God by
observing the Sabbath. It is to be the mark of
distinction between God's chosen people and the

received not the love of the truth, that they
might be saved. And for this cause God shall send
them strong delusion, that they should believe a
