2Background
- There are 72,000 MI Tanks in the State
- Of these, 66,000 were did not get adequate
support for renovation - In 2006 APSEG Council decided to take up one MI
Tank/GP initially and restore it fully. - All tanks are to be covered in phases
3Background
- It is a partnership programme between Irrigation
RD Pr engineers wing - Irrigation Dept. To take up Jungle clearance
using machinery - RD Dept Execute all other components after
jungle clearance - Engineering wing of Irr., PR to provide
technical oversight - Spl. Secretary Irr. Dept. is designated by the
Govt. as Nodal officer for monitoring

5Non-Negotiables in work execution
- Only Job Card holders to be employed for NREGS
component - Muster rolls to be maintained on work site
- All works taken up shall be subject to Social
Audit - Wage Payments will be through post office savings
accounts
6Preparatory arrangements
- Detailed Govt. orders and instructions are issued
on implementation arrangements issued - Constitution of mandal level teams for
identification of MI Tanks - Development of software for generating estimates
- Joint workshop to Irr PR engineers NREGS
functionaries- at district level - Orientation to all sarpanchs and elected
representatives
7Implementation arrangements
- One AEE, PR/ Irrigation kept i/c of one mandal
for - Identification of Tank
- Preparation of estimates processing for
sanction - Supervision
- All estimates are computer generated
- Irrigation dept. has taken up jungle clearance
with their own funds wherever necessary using
machinery. - After machines are withdrawn, NREGS works
commenced on 8th Jan 07 in all districts - Each G.P. is advanced Rs. 1.00 lakh for
procurement of materials like cement, metal,
stone engaging tractors for silt transportation - On presentation of purchase bills, the advance
was be adjusted.
8Implementation arrangements
- Trainings were given to all Technical Assistants
- A hand book was prepared as a technical guide to
filed workers - Orientation/ trainings were given to all
sarpanchs on procurement of materials - A hand book in telugu on procurement guidelines
is given to all GPs
