Title: BODY MASS of Ateneo College Freshmen

BODY MASS of Ateneo College Freshmen
2
What is Body Mass?
  • Weight (kg) / Height2 (m2)
  • It determines the proportion of your weight to
    your height

3
Scope Limitations
  • Comprises 105 respondents/samples
  • All are Ateneo Freshmen
  • Ages ranging from 16 - 19
  • Sex was not taken into consideration
  • Data was gathered through survey forms

Analysis
  • By adding up the raw scores and dividing it by
105, the group was able to get 22.35 kg/m2 as the
    mean or average body mass.
  • Using grouped data, the mean turned out to be
22.419048 kg/m2 which is slightly larger than the
    previously mentioned mean.
  • The class interval 20 - 24 kg/ m2 garnered the
most number of frequencies, thereby making it the
modal class interval. Almost half of all the
freshmen surveyed (43.81) have body masses
    within this interval

9
  • Most of the freshmen surveyed (79.05) have 16 -
24 kg/m2 body mass. Only 20.95 of those surveyed
have body mass greater than 24 kg/m2.
  • Among those occuring twice are 20.02, 20.10,17.61
and 16.68 kg/m2. Any of these can be considered
as the mode. The rest of the values occur only
    once.
  • The freshmen show a wide range of body masses,
the smallest body mass being only 16.68 kg/m2
while the greatest body mass being 40.81 kg/m2.
The freshmen students' body mass has a range of
    25.13 kg/m2.

10
  • Using raw scores, the standard deviation is 4.86.
This means that on the average, we would expect
that most of the body masses of the freshmen
would be 22.35 ? 4.86 kg/m2 or will fall within
17.49 27.21 kg/m2. The small value of the
    standard deviation indicates that the
observations (body masses) are more clustered
    about the mean.
  • Using grouped data, the standard deviation is
5.06. This means that on the average, we would
expect that most of the body masses of the
freshmen would be 22.42 ? 5.06 kg/m2 or will fall
within 17.36 27.48 kg/m2. The small value of
the standard deviation indicates that the
observations (body masses) are more clustered
    about the mean.

Body Mass Index
12
  • Using the Body Mass Index and the mean, we can
say that an average Ateneo Freshman is generally
in correct weight, proportional to his or her
    body.
