Simply Dashing

• WOL Dave and Johns favorite movie is Forrest
  Gump theyre favorite saying is life is like a
  box of chocolates you never know what your gonna
  get.
• The dash is typed or written by combing two
  hyphens
• The dash is used to create sentence fluency and
  style in writing
• The hyphen (or half dash) is used to separate
  syllables at the ends of lines, create compound
  adjectives and nouns, punctuate fractions, ages,
  and other grammatical problems.

Still Dashing . . .

• Try out the following patterns in your journal.
  Write a paragraph that uses dashes twice and four
  of your vocab words from this week.
• At dark, shadowy intersections, I could cross in
  front of a car stopped at a traffic light and
  elicit the thunk, thunk, thunk, thunk of the
  driverblack, white, male, femalehammering down
  the door locks.
