How to protect yourself At the airport /Bus or
train stations
  • Watch your bags and personal belongings at all
    times.
  • Do not accept packages from strangers.
  • Dont joke about having a bomb or a firearm.
  • Dont discuss terrorism, weapons , explosives or
    other threats while going through the security
    checkpoint.

Checking in
  • Electronic ticket travelers should check to make
    sure they have the proper documentation.
  • Be prepared to answer questions about your bags
    when asked who packed your bags .
  • Dont leave your bags unattended.
  • Be cooperative as screeners may ask to search
    your bags. Security personnel will search a bag
    if X-ray scans cannot determine its content.
  • Travelers taking airlines are limited to one
    carry on bag and one personal item

On the Airplane/Bus /Train
  • Listen carefully to the flight attendant or
    conductors safety instructions.
  • In the event of an emergency, contact your family
    and your recruiter, contact ICCP.
  • Check where the closest exit to where your seat
    is located.

Steps I need to take in case of a National
disaster
  • Stay put.
  • Dont go anywhere.
  • Follow the camp procedures.
  • In your staff training , ask questions with
    regard to your camp emergency procedure,
    including identifying the Camp- ICCP liaison.
  • Dont panic.
  • ICCP must have a copy of your travel itinerary
    after camp. Give a copy to your camp director.

How to deal with hatred and discrimination when
it is directed at you
  • Children seeing frightening images of destruction
    and death.
  • The most important thing is
  • To acknowledge the crisis, recognize their fears
    and provide reassurance .Let them know you are
    there to protect them.
  • Children might feel fearful and powerless.
  • They may feel anger, anxiety, shame, sadness or
    depression.
  • Take their questions and feelings seriously.
  • Be patient and tolerant if children are upset and
    act out their feelings.

  • Be honest .Children may not know what to believe.
  • Remind them that people in many countries have
    experienced terrible wars and acts of violence
    all around the world.
  • Keep your normal routine.
  • Be supportive, be empathetic and nonjudgmental.
  • Take control of the situation .
  • Remain calm. Dont overact or get in power
    struggles.
  • Dont be angry. Dont lose rationality.
  • Seek help or assistance from your camp director
    if you cant handle a situation.
  • Re- establish communication..
