Title: Planning 10A B

1
Planning 10A / B
  • Presentation Outline

2
Choice of Format
  • You choose the format
  • Powerpoint is very popular and effective
  • You could make a movie
  • You could use other presentation software
  • The choice is yours

3
Draft a plan
  • On a piece of paper plot out your areas of focus.
  • Under each of these headings place some
    sub-topics
  • You could end up with about 20 slides in your
    presentation

4
Main Topics (From the Graduation Transition
package)
  • Personality and Skills
  • Aptitudes
  • Values
  • Goals
  • These are your main topics
  • 5-10 slides per topic
  • Use photos
  • Sell yourself
  • Make it interesting to the audience

5
Each Slide
  • Build each slide
  • My family slide (or slides) could include a
    family photo.
  • It could include mini bios on each of my
parents, brothers or sisters, or extended family.

6
Making the Presentation
  • Get all your slides complete prior to adding
    effects, colors, animation.
  • The content is most important
  • Spend 90 of your time on content
  • Spend 10 of your time on the frills
  • The computer aspect supports the presentation, it
    does not control it!

7
The Frills
  • Frills are fun
  • They can be really annoying to the reader
  • Keep the text large
  • Keep the font simple
  • Always use a contrasting font colour (not like
    below)
  • Do not have too much text on one slide
  • You should speak most of the presentation
  • The Powerpoint presentation highlights the
    important parts
  • Do not read what is on the screen!

8
Look around
  • Look at other successful presentations
  • Get ideas
  • What works, what does not work
  • Insert good ideas into your presentation
