Future RTD Needs
  • The success of aquaculture in creating
    employment will depend on the ability of the
    industry to be economically viable and
    self-sufficient. This involves aspects related to
    production development, market, training, and
    governance (A Strategy for the Sustainable
    Development of European Aquaculture (Brussels,
    19.9.2002 COM (2002) 511 final)

New Aims of Thematic Networks

    given academic discipline
  • by means of cooperation between universities
    academic associations, learned societies,
    professional bodies, student organisations and
    other partners

  • Co-operation within Thematic networks is expected
    to lead to outcomes which will have a lasting and
    widespread impact on universities across Europe
    in the relevant field

  • From the information we are giving you in this
    meeting and building upon the work we have
    already completed, you need to decide what
    tools/resources etc. you would like to see
    developed in order to help you to adapt/implement
    new EC policies (with the limited resources we
    have!)
