Ontarios Provincial E-Learning Strategy

• The provincial e-learning strategy provides
  provincially funded school boards, school
  authorities, and provincial schools with some key
  tools
• a learning management system (LMS or D2L)
• access to over 80 credit courses
• a learning object repository (Ontario Educational
  Resource Bank - OERB)
• access to over 12,000 electronic resources
• a seat reservation system (SRS)
• a community of practice (e-Community).

Elements in the OERB to Support Student Learning

• Searchable by grade, subject, strand, overall
  expectation and key word
• Allows teachers to share best practice teaching
  and learning resources across the profession that
  are directly linked to the Ontario curriculum
• Provides a teacher/board driven model for long
  term sustainability
• Accessible in schools and at home for parents
  engaged in the learning process

Access and Management at the School Board Level

• School Boards
• Assign usernames and passwords for the LMS/LOR
• Identify and offer the teacher mediated
  e-learning courses they require to meet the needs
  of their students
• Customize the courses to address student,
  regional and community needs
• Enrol eligible students in online classes
• Assign qualified teachers to teach online classes
• Manage and govern the delivery and quality of
  online learning at the local level (including
  online credit courses and electronic resources in
  the classroom)
