Welcome to Mrs. Heridias First Grade Class
Nikki has just arrived at Golfview Elementary
School and is going to Mrs. Heridias classroom.
She is still very anxious.

Hi Nikki! All the students are so excited to
have you here. It is so nice to finally meet
you. You can have the desk over here to put your
things. Now lets introduce you to everyone.

from Jacobs High School!

Graciella is just such a sweet girl. I do not
know any six year olds that would think of
getting their brother a present on their
birthday. I really want to do something for her.
I think I will surprise her and leave a present
in her bag so she doesnt know who it is from.
It is?? That is so exciting, are you doing
anything special or asking for anything in
particular?
WOW! That is nice of you to think if your
brother on your birthday. I am sure he really
appreciates it.
Hi Graciella! How are you today?
Oh good, do you have any exciting plans?
It has been several weeks since Nikkis first
day at Golfview. She is really starting to get
to know the students and has been working with
them one on one frequently. She specifically has
made a special bond with one of the students,
Graciella.
I dont really have any plans but I do really
want a red fire truck for my younger brother. He
has wanted one for so long and I really want him
to finally get one.
Hi Senorita! I am very good, just getting ready
for the weekend.
Well actually tomorrow is my birthday.

Later that afternoon Nikki goes to the store to
get Graciella a necklace and matching pair of
earrings. She wraps them up in bright wrapping
paper and puts them in Graciellas backpack the
next day.

Alright, well we better practice these skills a
lot.
Ok boys and girlswhat are we working on today?
It is the Monday after Graciellas birthday.
Everyone is working in their collaborative groups
and Nikki is again helping Graciella and her
group.
Were still working on time. We have a quiz in a
couple days over it.

As Nikki is getting ready to leave for the day
she sees a note sticking out of her purse. It
was a thank you letter written from Graciella, in
English, thanking her for the gift. She said it
was the best surprise she has ever gotten.

Graciella is just such an amazing young girl. I
realize how much of an impact a teacher can make
on his or her students. This experience wants me
to become a teacher that much more and impact
more students lives.
