The various components involved in the setting of the registration fees are
1) Ice time Direct cost of ice purchased by the association from the City of Ottawa, Bell Sensplex and other sources.
2) Overhead This is the cost of running the KMHA including office rent, office salaries, administrative expenditures, clinics/development costs, equipment/sweaters plus others.
3) Referees For house league this is paid by the association, competitive teams pay it directly out of team budgets.
4) Insurance Paid to CHA on a per player basis, also paid for association and team officials.
5) League fees For house league this is paid by the association, competitive teams pay directly out of their team budgets. It also includes trophies for internal house leagues.
6) Reduction Over the past six years KMHA has accumulated excess cash flow due to fundraising efforts ,thanks to Marshys supplying Senators tickets to raffle and bingo proceeds. These are now being utilized to reduce registration rates.

An interesting perspective..
Many associations have a Fair Ice Time policy. This is open to interpretation by some people. There is some confusion between fair and equal terminology out there so let me be perfectly clear - the following guidelines apply regardless of the skill level of the playerEqual ATTITUDE Equal ice timeEqual COMMITMENT Equal ice timeEqual EFFORT Equal ice timeAttitude is measured on how each player relates to others in a positive manner. Respect for teammates, opponents, coaching and management staff, parents and referees is a must. Commitment on the ice is not taking stupid penalties and sharing the puck with your teammates. Off the ice its attending team functions, coming prepared and on time to both practices and games. Effort is displaying the desire, the spirit and the drive to succeed. These are the things the PLAYERS CONTROL. If they play their "ACE" they get equal ice time.It annoys me a great deal when I hear of a HL coach shortening the bench at any time of the game if it's solely based on perceived skill. In competitive, . "You pick'em - you play'em". If the kid plays their ACE - you can't ask for anything more - they get equal icetime in my book.
