    including limited English-speaking
  • Increase in aging population
  • MEDICAL AND DENTAL TRENDS
  • Increase in the number of individuals and
    families without health insurance and that do not
    qualify for Medicaid or Basic Health
  • Lack of affordable dental care

Mentally Fit as Possible East King County
  • GAPS
  • Lack of free or low-cost medical and dental
    services for immigrants not covered by state or
    federal health care programs
  • Need for culturally specific services with
    translators/interpreters.
  • Lack of free or affordable basic dental and
    health care for uninsured, underinsured,
    low-income and working poor.
  • Lack of funding for prescription drugs and
    medical services not covered by Medicare.

GOAL 4 Examples of Outcomes
  • Increased access to medical care/preventive
    health services, including immunizations
  • In 2003, Community Health Centers of KC reported
    a 43 success rate for children receiving
    immunizations by their 2nd birthday an increase
    of 2-3 over 2002.
  • Improved oral health and lack of dental pain
  • 100 of patients treated by North East Dental
    Coalitions mobile dental van reported improved
    oral health and lack of dental pain. Services
    also provided through donated chair hours by
    local dentists.

  • Mariya, her daughter and grandson were assisted
    in
  • Becoming safe from domestic violence
  • Accessing DSHS, Medicaid and cash benefits
  • Locating culturally appropriate counseling and
    treatment for her depression
  • Finding adequate low-income housing
  • Getting adequate care for her autistic grandson.
