2The Geraldton Magistrates Court and the Perth
Drug Court invite you to attend a conference -
At the Cutting Edge Therapeutic Jurisprudence
(TJ) in Magistrates Courts, to be held in
Perth, Western Australia on Friday 06 May 2005 at
the Mercure Hotel Perth. The philosophy behind
TJ is gaining wider acceptance and application
throughout the world. The Geraldton Court and the
Drug Court of WA pioneer the philosophies of TJ
within the existing justice framework. The
benefits of a therapeutic approach to justice are
well documented with significant social and
economic benefits flowing into the
community. The aim of the conference is to raise
the awareness of TJ amongst Department of Justice
stakeholders and criminal justice system
professionals.
Western Australia is the largest state in
Australia. It amounts to a third of the area of
Australia, with a total area of more than
2,500,00 sq km. WA is divided into five
regions the Kimberley, the North West, South
West, the Interior and the Wheat Belt. The
Mercure Hotel The Mercure Hotel is a 4 star

Perth Western Australia Perth is described as a
city of sun, surf and friendly people. It is
situated between the Darling Ranges and the
Indian Ocean and along the banks of the Swan
River, 12 km from the ocean. The river is named
after the famous black swans which are very
common, particularly on a number of small lakes
within the city such as Lake Monger. Perth has
over one million people and is described as one
of the most beautiful cities in Australia. The
city is bound by the river to the east and south
and the sea to the west. Perth beaches are highly
regarded because of their white sand and the
absence of high rise buildings for most of the
coastline. Kings Park, Perths best known park,
has attractive walks, a war memorial, a
suspension bridge and over 300 hectares of
natural Australian bush overlooking the city
centre and the Swan River. The view from Kings
park is a must for any visitor to Perth.
