FOREWORD
This booklet served data and information about
culture and tourism, especially the development
of culture and tourism sector that have been
achieved. We would like to express our
appreciation and gratitude to all of the persons
which have assisted and cooperated in compiling
this booklet. Finally, we hope this booklet
would be useful as a reference document for
decision makers and stakeholders.

TOURISM IN GLANCE
The number of foreign tourists who came to
Indonesia in the year of 2006 of visitor arrivals
is about 4,871,351 arrivals, or decline 2.61
compared to year 2005. The average tourist
expenditure during their visit to Indonesia in
the year of 2006 is about US 913.09 per visit or
US 100.48 per day. And the average tourist
length of stay in Indonesia in the year of 2006
is 9.09 days. The tourism contribution in
foreign exchange during 2006 is about US 4,4
billion, or decline 1.63 compared to 2005. The
period of January to October 2007, the number of
visitor arrivals reached 3,710,848 people or
increase 14.24 compared to the same period in
the year of 2006. The period of January to
October 2007, the biggest visitor arrivals who
came through the Ngurah Rai airport reached
1,439,302 people or increased about 33.15
compared to the same period in 2006.

The period of January to October 2007, the second
biggest visitor arrivals who came through
Soekarno Hatta airport reached 937,898 people or
increased 1.64 compared to the same period in
2006. The period of January to October 2007, the
third biggest visitor arrivals who came through
Batam reached 869,025 arrivals or increased
5.45 compared to the same period in 2006. Based
on the nationality, the biggest number of visitor
arrivals in the period of January to October 2007
is coming from Singapore of 749,879 arrivals. In
the second place is Malaysia 463,517 arrivals and
in the third place is Japan reached 397,936
arrivals. The period of January to October 2007,
the biggest decline came from Singapore with the
number of visitor arrivals of 749,879 arrivals or
decline 2.89 compared to the same period in 2006
which was 772,216 arrivals. The second decline
came from Taiwan with the number of visitor
arrivals of 180,765 people or decline 1.30
compared to the same period in 2006 which was
183,152 arrivals.
