Step Changes in Welfare Policy
  • The programme of welfare reform will
  • strengthen engagement with individuals and
    employers
  • improve customers employability
  • reduce welfare dependency and increase economic
    competitiveness
  • help people to work wherever they can and
    employers to secure the skills and employees they
    need
  • link people to jobs, and
  • provide in-work support to move more people into
    sustained employment.

  • The Focus will be on two main groups
  • Lone Parents
  • People on long term sickness benefits
  • With joint working for other customer
    groups..Mental Health,offenders, age
    (SWOOP)
  • Why these groups
  • Children in Poverty are more likely to
  • not go to school or to perform well
  • be involved in criminal behaviour
  • have poor health
  • as an adult be poor and out of work
  • . . .We need to break this cycle. . .
