The NGO Code

• The Code of Good Practice for NGOs was created
  by a broad consortium of NGOs to provide shared
  vision of good practice to which NGOs can commit
  and be held accountable
• The Code outlines the key principles and
  practices that are informed by evidence and
  underscore successful NGO responses to HIV

• Sees the involvement of people living with HIV
  and affected communities as a specific expression
  of the right to active, free and meaningful
  participation in all aspects of the HIV and Aids
  response

  including people at particular risk of HIV
  infection and those who bear a disproportionate
  burden of the impact of HIV and Aids

  in their lived experiences thus contributing to
  reducing stigma and discrimination

  appropriateness of the HIV response

Meaningful Involvement of Women Girls Living
with HIV (MIWA)

• Globally, half of all adults living with HIV are
  female.
• Women and girls make up an increasing proportion
  of the population living with HIV
• The meaningful involvement of women and girls
  living with HIV (MIWA) in the development ,
  design and delivery of HIV programmes and
  services is key for ensuring that these are
  relevant, accessible and usable to women and
  girls around the world

  and others. We too, must be accountable to the
  communities we are part of, work with, represent
  and serve.

  stewardship of resources are crucial
