• Can be audio or video

How Do You Get a Podcast?

• If you wanted to receive an EPISODIC publication
  of printed media, how would you get it?

Podcast Checklist

• Subscription link (URL) to the podcast
• Podcast Reader or RSS Reader (if you dont
  already have one)
  
• Media Players (QuickTime Windows Media)
• Speakers/headphones to listen
• Optional
• MP3 Player or CDs to take podcast on the
  road

Getting the Podcast Link

• From e-mail Highlight Copy the URL
• From a web page You may see a button like
  this or a link like this Kaylas Video
  Podcast
  
• Right-click on the link and choose COPY
  SHORTCUT to copy the link
  
• From iTunes click for your
  chosen podcast

Whats an RSS Reader and Why Do You Need One?

• Just as an e-mail client is used to access and
  organize your e-mailan RSS reader is a tool
  that you use to access and organize your blog,
  news, and podcast subscriptions

• Podcast Reader
• Most common is iTunes
• iTunes is available as a free download from
  apple.com
  
• RSS Reader
• Traditionally used for RSS text feeds (like news
  feeds, etc)
  
• Can also use for Podcasts theyre just MEDIA
  RSS Feeds

• iTunes is very easy to use but is limited to
  audio/video
  
• Easy to subscribe
• Easy to download to Ipod, a little trickier to
  download to other Mp3 players but doable
  
• Easy to burn CDs
• but... some schools may not allow you to install
  it

• RSS Readers accommodate all types of RSS feeds,
  and still simple, but less automated than iTunes

• Go to www.apple.com/itunes
• Click Free Download

• go to www.pluck.com
• at the bottom-right, click Pluck RSS Reader
• click the button in the middle of the page
  Get Pluck FREE!

Installing Pluck

• Internet Explorer will open and you will see
  Pluck on the left of your window
  
• Click Create an account at the top of the Pluck
  window complete the form

• Installing Pluck will add a Pluck button to your
  IE toolbar click this button to open Pluck

• Pluck opens as a toolbar on the left-hand side of
  your Internet Explorer window

button to play directly from Itunes

  adventurous) 2) Copy the link to my podcast
  from my web page (http//vod.esc11.net/

• 3) Subscribe to my podcast and checkout
  the episode titled Podcasting 101 it
  should be exactly what you just saw.
