Starting a Troop Eagle Board of Review

Select a service project This should include a
review of the Eagle Packet contents with your
Scoutmaster, parents, and benefiting
organization. Be sure to keep logs of (1) your
planning time and (2) others helping you.
Get service project approved Review the project
with your Scoutmaster, Troop Committee, and the
benefiting organization.
Get District Eagle Board approval of project Take
the original and 2 copies of all your paperwork
to the board! You may also invite someone into
the review with you to take notes, but not a
parent.
Call for an appointment with the District Eagle
Board
  • Plan the service project
  • Include
  • Materials list
  • Cutting diagrams
  • Top, side, front views
  • Type of finish
  • How project will be identified as an Eagle
    Project
  • Funding statement
  • Power tool statement, i.e. scout being taught
    safe methods, safety equip, only adults using
    power tools
  • Schedule for work
  • Maps
  • Before pictures

Secure four letters of recommendation Select the
people you want to write letters now. Be sure
to ask them first. Youll need letters from an
educator, an employer (if any), and two others
(but not a parent). If no employer, select
another person that knows you well. You will
list all 4 of these people on your Eagle
application
  • Do the project
  • Be sure to keep logs of your your work time and
    the work time of others.
  • Take pictures as the project progresses.
  • Make notes of changes to the project you hadnt
    foreseen and to add tools and materials you left
    off the original lists.

Complete Eagle Application Ask your Advancements
Chair to give you a report from Troop Master (or
their records) for rank advancement, office, and
Merit Badge dates youll list on your Eagle
application.
  • Prepare the report
  • Make sure you
  • List the dates worked
  • List all changes to the project and changes to
    the materials including cost
  • Complete time logs 1) Your planning time 2)
    Your work time 3) Work time of others

Complete Scoutmaster Conference Troop Board of
Review
  • Submit full package to Council
  • Allow 4 days
  • Include
  • An Advancement Report- Paper version!
  • Eagle Application
  • Statement of ambitions life purpose
  • 4 sealed letters of recommendation from people
    listed on the Eagle Application
  • Eagle Project Workbook and all attachments
  • Completed Merit Badge cards as listed on Eagle
    application

Write statement of ambitions life purpose.
List positions held in school, church, troop
any awards.
  • Get final District Eagle Board approval
  • Bring the original and 2 copies of
  • Eagle Application
  • Eagle Workbook/attachments
  • Statement of life purpose
  • Also bring
  • 4 Recommendation Letters

Plan / Hold COH! Do not pick a date earlier than
4 to 6 weeks after submission.
After Council approves application, contact Eagle
Board Chairman for a final review.
Take approved Eagle Application to Council for
submission to National

  • At the final Eagle Board review the Scout will be
    asked to answer questions about the following.
  • Report on your performance while carrying out the
    project.
  • Share your opinions and ideas about life and
    Scouting with the Eagle Board.
  • Completely understand the Scout Oath and Law.
  • Please repeat the Scout Oath! Repeat the Law!
  • What are the three principal points of the Scout
    Oath?
  • How do you do your scout Duty to God? Duty to
    Country? Duty to Others? Duty to Self?
  • Be able to explain any of the twelve points of
    the Scout Law.
  • Be able to explain the parts of the First Class
    badge.

    Spirit?
  • What does becoming an Eagle Scout mean to you?
  • What are the responsibilities of an Eagle Scout?
    How will you meet them.
  • How do you plan to continue to your service to
    Scouting?
