Title: Cross, Suffering, Love
1Cross, Suffering, Love
2A cross, is the symbol of the Christian Faith.
- When we look at a
- cross, we tend to
- think of suffering, the
- pain Jesus endured in
- dying on the cross.
3We see suffering everyday
We only have to listen to the radio, read
newspapers and watch the TV. We have all
experienced suffering in different ways.
4At Nugent Care we see
The suffering of PARENTS when they first hear
that their child may have severe learning
difficulties.
5At Nugent Care we see
The suffering of CARERS who may be on duty
24/7, with little time for themselves but with
increasing worries about what will happen when
they are no longer here.
6At Nugent Care we see
The suffering of the DEAF or HARD of HEARING
person who finds it difficult to communicate, so
avoids going out, so loses out on a social life.
7We could go on with many examples of suffering,
but at Nugent Care we want to turn NEGATIVE
experiences into something more POSITIVE.
8Let us look back at the CROSS.
- Instead of suffering, we should see LOVE.
- The LOVE Jesus had to die for us.
- Just as the disciples spread the
teachings of Christ, - we at Nugent Care follow the example given to us
by Fr. Nugent, - who saw the suffering caused by the poverty in
Liverpool one - hundred years ago and made positive steps to do
something -
about it.
9So today at Nugent Care we show our love by
- Offering SUPPORT
- to parents and
- families to help
- them cope with
- their loved one
- Who has learning
- difficulties.
10ADVISING carers, giving them a listening ear,
a chance to recharge their batteries
11- TEACHING a deaf / hard of hearing person sign
language or lip reading to help them communicate.
- We may also be able to support them in applying
for employment or attending a course.
12Our motto is Because Nugent Cares We need to
pray for all who work at Nugent Care and for all
those we help, that we share with each other,
the love of Christ.
