Introduction
  • America, the land of opportunity, now seemed to
    have no opportunity at all, this was the Great
    Depression.
  • Farmers faced total ruin---crop equipment
    losses, mortgage foreclosures, bankruptcy,
    dispossession.
  • Million of American workers lost their jobs, with
    no hopes of finding other work that could
    maintain their livelihoods.

How did government help the farmers during the
great depression?
  • AAA (Agricultural Adjustment Administration)
  • -reduce production
  • CCC (Civilian conservation Crops)
  • -public works
  • SCS ( Soil Conservation Service)
  • - encouraged farmers to use soil conservation
    methods
  • - stop erosion
  • - help conserve soil fertility

How did the dust bowl affect children?
  • In 1935, there was a dust storm in the Midwest.
  • Most of the good top soil were whirled away.
  • Millions of dollars crops were destroyed.
  • It was hard for people to survive in the thick
    dust
  • The death rate increased
  • School and businesses were shut down

  • They began digging through the garbage
  • They called out of school

  • In conclusion, were so lucky to have the chance
    to learn about the Great Depression, the problem
    that people faced and how they survived
  • It was very helpful to work in groups, to help
    each other and do our best to be ready to present
