Problem overview

• Pocket Change -- an electronic-cash system,
  useful for buying and transferring money
• Also keeps track of multiple checking, savings,
  and credit card accounts
• Easy to use for people with little computer
  experience
• Fast and secure

Major Changes From HE

• Multiple checking, savings, and credit card
  accounts are allowed
• Privacy controls keep people from being able to
  check your balance
• More feedback alerts the user of possibly
  overdrawn accounts
• Extra fingerprint protection adds security for
  transactions

• A user can no longer send more money than they
  have
• Confirmation screen on the web page gives users a
  sense of security
• Help screens were added

User Tests

• Tested most of the functionality of Pocket Change
  in three user tests
• Test 1 An E-cash transfer between user and a
  store
• Test 2 An E-cash transfer between the user and
  another person
• Test 3 Recording a check and transfer money from
  the Bank to the Pilot

Test One Bottom-Line Results

• This test was the easiest. Involved reviewing
  amount of money in account and buying a shirt.
• Average time to complete 225 mins.
• Avg of Errors performed 1

• Participants felt that the OK button on this
  screen was unnecessary and somewhat misleading
  because they couldnt cancel.
• Solution make this screen go automatically to
  the next screen.

• Participants didnt notice or interpret the button as a backspace.
• Solution Change the button name to back.

• Participants were confused about the format of
  the Date and Amount fields
• Solution Make the Date have a MM/DD/YY format
  and the Amount have a 0.00 format.

• Solution give it a 0.00 format so users have
  more feedback.

• Solution we need to make it more obvious by
  changing its size or color.

• Pocket Change is a convenient way to track
  finances and use E-cash
• After the HE, Pocket Change was modified to
  increase its account tracking and security
  features
• The User Tests showed us how real users responded
  to the interface
• Pocket Change will be modified as per the
  problems found during user testing
